DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS (2022) Commentary Track - June 2022
Added 2022-07-29 15:28:38 +0000 UTCY'all ever wake up and your notoriously not an MCU fan boss is like "surprise we watched the Sam Raimi MCU movie live on audio?" Cause I just did, and now YOU get to listen to it.
This is not a prank, they actually watched this movie, with James Graessle explaining ALL the stuff they didn't understand.
Did they have a good time? Find out by listening along.
Watchalong on Disney+: https://www.disneyplus.com/movies/doctor-strange-in-the-multiverse-of-madness/27EiqSW4jIyH
ALSO PLEASE NOTE: The first 9 minutes of this commentary track is them talking about their MCU experiences / opinions. Which I think is worth it frankly, but If you want to skip ahead to just the movie, go to 9 minutes in.

I saw this in theaters opening night, you must have watched an edited version. There was never any blood on Reed during his death.

2024-12-17 02:26:41 +0000 UTCNot sure if anyone said this yet, but the lady in the mid credit scene is Clea, a character who ends up being Dr. Strange's wife in the comics!

2024-09-22 02:12:32 +0000 UTCI think it still hasn’t occurred to them that the general audience lumps the mcu fans and horror fans together. Since horror is guilty of doing a lot of the same things as superhero movies. Putting too much focus on effects, getting too convoluted with their lores. And the comedy is really hit and miss. Like how the jordan peele movies and pearl and X are very ill timed with their humor. Oh so its dumb to have john krazinski make a cameo but its ok when Bill Murray shows up in zombieland. Or when other celebrities show up for cameos in horror movies.

2023-09-20 20:11:39 +0000 UTCalso kate bishop, kid loki, cassie lang, nathaniel richards (kang), and elijah bradley. Not to mention the other young characters like kamala khan, skaar, and love that could easily join the MCU's version of the team. Kind of astounding they still havent announced this project officially yet. (also sorry for the very late and unwarranted reply lol)

2022-11-05 13:17:11 +0000 UTCa fun if slightly frustrating listen. I defo understand marvel movies are not for everyone but I do think its a little reductive to say they arent funny just cause you dont like the jokes. I also think its interesting that you dont like their writing but enjoyed Mortal Kombat (which I did too) and Black Phone (which I found to be very mediocre). And as far as all the interconnectivity goes, I think theres a very common misconception that you need to watch everything that came out before any given movie to understand it which is absolutely not true. I know you guys were talking over this which is one thing, but if anyone actually sits down and just watches a marvel movie they almost always go out of their way to explain anything youd actually need to know. Obviously you wont know the exact origin of every single character, location, item, etc.--and you might get more out of it if you've been following these characters for 20 years--but thats the case for every original standalone movie and I rarely hear of people complaining about those problems in those movies, so this kind of complaint always strikes me as a little odd. All of that being said I did really enjoy hearing your takes on a movie and franachise youre much less intimately familiar with. p.s. I'd be curious--though totally understanding if youre against it--to see how you'd feel about covering something like 1998's Blade or 2005's Constantine? Obviously still comic book movies but definitely not MCU (especially since one is a DC property) and both still having one foot planted firmly in the horror genre in one way or another?

2022-11-05 13:16:57 +0000 UTCChelsea: I have no idea whats happening. Also Chelsea: Had more lines than the movie had.

2022-10-30 04:50:16 +0000 UTCI was looking to see if someone mentioned this. He is definitely a better actor than the other boy, which was a lot more obvious in Wanda Vision. I think he suffered from bad writing in this movie. Either that or Mike Flanagan is a magical director that can pull great performances out of people who aren't necessarily great actors, which I mean is totally possible.

2022-08-02 23:42:27 +0000 UTCAwwk this was great, there are so many great discussions yous had. I thoroughly enjoyed MoM as it felt so different from the rest of the MCU, and I think that's down to Raimi, but also the cast, Elizabeth being a standout.

2022-08-02 18:10:27 +0000 UTCDamn graessle’s Cap joke had me in tears 😂 he is the only one that can do this all day

2022-07-31 14:22:56 +0000 UTCPLEASE, if you guys end up showing Graessle Evil Dead, do a commentary track for one of them. That’s my favorite franchise and I’d love to hear Graessle’s first reaction

2022-07-31 14:14:14 +0000 UTCI just looked up a clip of John Krasinski’s death and it was WAY bloodier, like he had blood on his face. So definitely changed for Disney+ or the clip I watched was edited

2022-07-31 13:49:35 +0000 UTCHey, no worries! I labeled it for James specifically, but I also meant it for anyone who's interested generally. Whenever you get around to plugging those holes, I hope you enjoy this order!
Scott Hill
2022-07-31 13:43:32 +0000 UTCIk this is for James but thank you, I screen shotted it and will probably use it to get through these. I’ve seen random ones from all phases so I’m missing a lot

2022-07-31 13:38:17 +0000 UTCNo shade, I’m having an amazing time!

2022-07-31 13:34:58 +0000 UTCLol I’m about an hour in and this is basically just a Q&A guide for the movie lol

2022-07-31 13:34:39 +0000 UTCJames, if you ever do commit to a Marvel rewatch, I have a viewing order I swear by. It’s not release order, nor is it property chronological, but I found it works in terms of grouping installments so that the story flows in a more coherent, Stephen King-working-short-stories-into-a-larger-story sorta way. I watched this order leading up to Endgame, and I can confirm this is the best order to watch this shit. Phase 1: - Iron Man - Captain America: The First Avenger - Marvel One-shot: Agent Carter - (optional) Ang Lee’s Hulk (plot still fits in a broad-strokes way) - The Incredible Hulk - Iron Man 2 - Marvel One-Shot: The Consultant - Marvel One-Shot: A Funny Thing Happened On the Way To Thor’s Hammer… - Thor - Avengers Phase 2: - Thor: the Dark World - Guardians of the Galaxy - Marvel One-Shot: Item 47 - Iron Man 3 - Captain America: The Winter Soldier - Avengers: Age of Ultron - Ant-Man Phase 3: - Captain America: Civil War - Black Widow (save post-credit scene for later) - Spider-Man: Homecoming - Black Panther - Guardians of the Galaxy, vol. 2 - Doctor Strange - Thor: Ragnarok - Avengers: Infinity War - Ant-Man & the Wasp - Captain Marvel - Avengers: Endgame - Black Widow post-credit scene (if you’re wanting to continue past phase 3) I only have this figured out up to Phase 3 because Phase 4 is so scattered at the moment, I’m not sure the best way to tackle it. I also didn’t bother including any of the Netflix or CBS shows because until Phase 4, they didn’t seem necessary. I hope this list comes in handy some day.

2022-07-31 13:10:19 +0000 UTCAs an MCU fan, I was kind of worried about this, but still excited. Glad to hear James and Chelsea enjoy themselves and have fun. And Graessle did a great job filling in some blanks for J&C. I feel they would absolutely HATE Thor Love and Thunder. It was kinda painful to watch in parts.

2022-07-30 23:38:40 +0000 UTCI enjoyed hearing James and Chelsea's view of the movie since they aren't big on the MCU. I didn't think we'd actually ever get any content from you guys that's Marvel related. I'd be interested in listening to other tracks like this if you guys did legit want to go through them all but totally understand if you wouldn't want to do that.

2022-07-30 16:30:40 +0000 UTCamerica is a member of the young avengers! same with wandas kids (its my fav comic series)

2022-07-30 04:58:27 +0000 UTCI'm so glad you guys did this lmao. I wanted to hear your thoughts and I did think that at least James would enjoy it a bit. I feel like there are a bunch of Marvel movies that are a lot of fun to sit through. I was a huge fan before, but have lost interest since Endgame, I've definitely got an optimistic, yet cynical view on the MCU now. It was nice to listen to people whose opinions I actually trust talk about an MCU movie for once. Thanks for doing this!

2022-07-30 04:41:44 +0000 UTCThe eye monster looks like something from the James Gunn Scooby Doo movies

2022-07-29 23:45:54 +0000 UTCI'm not sure what people said this movie should be rated R, I think it originally was gonna be, cos Raimi wanted to have more scenes of like Wanda cutting off Mordos head I wish they kept. But obviously the end result isnt that graphic. As a horror movie fan and a more casual but still fan of the MCU I find we can be a bit pretentious, especially towards big studio movies, but im glad you guys keep the criticisms where their due and don't hate on stuff for the sake of hating. Which is especially nice since this is my fave Marvel movie by a long shot.

2022-07-29 23:39:36 +0000 UTCAlso sidenote, totally okay with it but I'm assuming we're gonna skip the June commentary?
