Discord & D&D at 50

Hello there paid supporters!

First of all, your support means the world to me. It feels like every time this week I've felt discouraged or down, my phone dings and I find that one of you lovely people has signed up at the paid tier. It means a ton to me. Thanks!

In thinking about how I can offer a better value, I've thought about offering a Discord server with exclusive access to paid supporters.

Question for you all: What would you expect from that? I want to make sure I understand the time commitment before rolling something like that out.

So, let me know what you'd want to see from my Discord server in the comments below. Any guidance would be much appreciated.

Also, keep your eyes peeled for a special post coming up this Sunday to mark D&D's 50th birthday, as determined by venerable sage Jon Peterson: https://playingattheworld.blogspot.com/2019/01/d-45th-birthday.html

What I'd be looking for in a Discord is mainly just segregated topic channels (there will probably be several for 5e) along with a general discussion area. I have no idea how large the community will be, but as has been pointed out already, if it gets too large it just becomes noisy. Something I've seen as well is a dedicated "ask me anything" channel so you aren't getting tagged all over the place with requests to weigh in on a topic.

Would love a discord to talk about game design with people. I think a discord for Patreon only would maybe be more manageable, but a free one with access to Patreon only channels might get you more people netted in.
