So that castle is the same castle where Kiritsugu and iri lived, and had their baby illya. At the end of zero kiritsugu did try and go back to visit his daughter, which he was denied entry since he failed to come back with the grail. The other castle you remember the fighting going on was a different castle just for the war. As for saber, yeah she nerf because of shirou. In the fate series it’s either you get a strong master who has tons of magical energy so you can feed off it, or have a shrimp like shinji and have no mana to feed from.
