The fun of the 4th is that it’s an all day event. No school, so you get stay up late. Family get together; BBQ, watermelon, homemade ice cream, and if you’re lucky they have a pool. If not water balloons, slip-in-slide or the good ol’ standby: the hose. Fireworks are just the finale.

At least on this side of the pond we do it in early November when it’s dark about 4pm so you can have proper family spectaculars without staying up too long (but also idiots setting them off all evening 😂)

2021-09-18 19:03:45 +0000 UTCOne time, when it was my turn as a kid to light the firework, I remembered to run but I also dropped the lighter right next to the flame and thankfully I did not accidentally light our family friend's yard on fire but boy was that a lecture from my older brothers
