I loved "Flowers for Algernon!" Did you know they made a movie of the book called "Charly"? Cliff Robertson won an Oscar for Best Actor for playing the title character.

2022-11-15 00:18:11 +0000 UTCThis is probably a movie that I wouldn’t watch on my own, I always assumed it was a boring black and white movie, but it’s always enjoyable watching movies through your eyes. The story reminds me a bit of a book I read “flowers for algernon” it’s a pretty short book and well worth a read

2022-11-14 17:04:57 +0000 UTCIt has been a loooooong time since I watched this movie. I remember watching this film on tv with my mum, when I was a kid. So heart-breaking, this being based on the true story of John Merrick's affliction. The actor who played John Merrick did a wonderful job, and you are indeed familiar with the actor. John Hurt, who was Kane in Alien & Garrick Ollivander in the Harry Potter series. I didn't even remember that it was Anthony Hopkins who played Dr. Treves. Watching this film, makes me wish I could've been there at the time just to protect him. I'm a very passive, keep-to-myself kind of guy, but when I clearly see any kind of bullying, especially to someone who cannot defend themselves properly like John Merrick...I can't stand it at all. Very emotional watch for sure.
