Update for homesteading

So I am still struggling to write homesteading and feel that even when I finish it it will not really be the ending it deserves. It feels too short. I did come up with a different approach but there's also a huge problem with that.

So right now the story simply continues where it left off where the written stuff ends I have everything planned out and how it will end. It feels fast and is shorter than I expected I suspect a big problem is I am not that existed to write it as it's not really the story I set out to write.

At first, I started to write it because I had already read all the gamer-like reincarnated stories with lots of skills and level-ups and I also wanted a farming/crafting story so I combined them and added some combat as well. Over time as the MC learned more about the world(and as I was making it at the same time) problems came up and I followed the story how I felt the MC would react to the world around him.

This was my first proper story and world-building and while I think I managed to make a world that explained all the system and why the world was like that because I was too inexperienced and failed to see how that world-building will change the story in the future to become more like a regular fantasy adventure book.

So we come to the other idea I had. What if I leaned in on that even more. End homesteading in a few chapters but continue the story in a new series called "The war of the 16 cards" making it more like Game of Thrones with a lot of pov how the political situation between the two sides of the world war was shaping up with plenty of betrayals, new aliases, fights and battles of epic proportions.

Yet there are plenty of books like that. the problem with this is that I would rather read a book than write it if one is available. There are plenty of dungeon core books(still literally read almost all of them) available yet not ones where the floors are so big. That's why I still enjoy every moment I am writing about ETG. This is where I went wrong with homesteading. it's not really about homesteading but about how Rich can continue to be a homesteader.

I get that it's my first story but I am still disappointed in myself that I did not realise the mistakes I was making. So in the end I will still finish the story it will most likely suck as it will be too short and I apologise deeply for my shortcomings. I just don't know how to fix this while still being able to write without starting to hate writing.

Sorry

I enjoyed Homesteading a lot. It did kind of get frayed towards the end though. One option is to rewrite it from the beginning with Rich Dirt as a protagonist with the Broken Veteran as just the mentor skill. Write what you enjoy writing.

That’s cool. The space ships was just an option, there are plenty of fantasy worlds that use portals also allowing you to have multiple planets without needing to go into science fiction. I also wasn’t sure if you wanted to keep the MC Rich and just change the setting or start with a new character altogether. Most of my recommendations were more like sequel books rather than a straight continuation. You could still keep Rich or have an entire new character; or keep Rich but give him new name if he is reincarnated. I definitely liked the beginning of Homestead in fantasy but I stopped reading it after you added politics and war so I’d definitely love to see more homesteading and crafting books. There are also plenty of ways to make crafting books without needing homesteading either.

Thumb Up !

For rich it does not feel right to do science fiction to an extent of space ships although I do want to write something about space exploration in the future. I do however like the reincarnation/isekai and actually already have a world that would fit in one of my other story worlds I have made. Although I think I would start a new book not continue this one like something named Homesteading in a possible fantasy world?? Thanks for the idea it instantly gave me ideas on how to continue to write.

It was not harsh it's what I have realized myself.

I started reading because of the Homesteading and while the fights were good. I found the later wars a unpalatable and they seem to take over from the Homesteading. There is so many small side stories that I would prefer to hear like the goblin country, the druid land/apprentice, the hybrid trees, and did he ever use the lake weed for fencing. like if you did filler for the time skip talking about the businesses being built up. Exploring the underground, managing the dungeons because it is as you said if wanted to read a war novel the stuff already exists and I think I can count on my hands and feet how many Homesteading novels they're is. That being said this is not criticism of your writing and more a symtim of serial releases losing track of the original plot and im sorry if this text is harsher then I intended I do thourely enjoy your writing and hope you do keep writing such good stories

I see a few ways you can go with this if you don’t want to actually end the book. 1) A complete rewrite with the beginning being the same or similar but eventually diverging from the old(current) version. 2) Have a scenario where the MC is isekai’d from his current world to a new world that can actually stick to homesteading & crafting. Have his power level, skills, system, etc be reset but now he has actual homesteading experience and knows some of the things to look out for when starting out. You’d also get to invent an entire new world that you could plan knowing what to watch out for now. The world could also either have the same/similar System or an entire new System. Also if you want to keep some characters from this book you could have them be isekai’d with MC or allow MC to summon some people. If you really want to ensure you primarily stick to homesteading you could either have MC be in a realm that goes on forever allowing for limitless homesteading opportunities or a Civ that has access to a portal system that allows people to explore/colonize new planets all the time (not necessarily Science Fiction style portals but more fantasy style portals (unless you want to add some Science Fiction elements then you could even add tech and spaceships too)). 3) Like option 2 but instead of isekai’d he is reincarnated again. 4) Like option 2 & 3, but turn it into a serial reincarnation series where he is constantly homesteading each life and slowly gaining extra powers each life (see webnovels like In Loki’s Honor, The Many Lives of Candace Lee)

Such are perils of writing serialized fiction. what matters is you wrote something enjoyable to read, thanks for the chapters

I just enjoy your writing. If homesteading isn't coming to you, I'd rather you switch to something else than be burnt out

RottenTangerine

I truly appreciate that thank you. I will continue to tell stories for as long as I can.

Apinsig

Just do you, I have enjoyed everything you've written so far and will continue to do so. Thanks for all the chapters
