I feel bad everytimne he says "it was like this in the 80s" no love, the states are still like this in some parts, like the line abt the dad wanting to pull a gun on gays isn't an exaggeration we have so much hate crime here and I'm from a blue state

2025-06-08 04:39:51 +0000 UTC"who wrote this???" fun fact Heathers is actually a teen murder movie that came out in 1988, height of silly teen slasher flicks and romcoms, so this is 100% that era of insane writing! and it takes place in that time too, the fact that they decided to make a musical of the movie is hilarious fr

2024-08-24 01:31:12 +0000 UTCThe best animatic is really good! But it's missing the final verse. Still, you should absolutely react to it!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X5ZhIDT72lU&ab_channel=BaconAnimates

2024-08-20 10:05:38 +0000 UTCI was also jarred by having no context between Our Love is God and now. What happened is that every time a student has a tragic end, the school has an assembly. There's always a song in their honor, and Veronica gets closer to snapping because Heather, Kurt and Ram were downright evil, but everyone loves them now that they're dead. The dads' projection and hypocrisy are also laughable and depressing.

2024-08-20 06:53:54 +0000 UTCThere is a tiny bit of speech before . Starts with the typical dear diary my high school crush has a body count (something like that). Jd is annoyed Veronica is upset and says something good could come out of this. Into funeral where basically one dad is saying about how his son wasn't gay, hence the argument at beginning. In the stage version (being album they cut the big dance break out of it) when we get the line about the summer of 83, they then kiss. Loads of cheering from audience when this happens. Towards the end of the song the dad's goto the front of the church and when they turn round to audience their black ties have been replaced by rainbow ties, another cheer from audience. They sell dead gay son merch at the show, my daughter has the tote bag. She also has a freeze your brain t shirt. My daughter is gay, she says it is an advantage lol at shows especially heather's as all the girls wanted to hug jd and he said he can't, whereas all the heathers ect hug the girls. Must admit our JD was amazing as at times I almost wanted to go and hug him as a mother he put the most emotions into JD that I have ever seen. (Although I do have a crush on the original movie jd lol).

2024-08-19 21:19:16 +0000 UTCthis song reminds me "Texas has a whorehouse in it" from Best Little Whorehouse in Texas.

2024-08-19 20:18:06 +0000 UTCCasper: "I need to stop swearing!" rest of the video: says "fuck" about 20 times. Also, did you just say "Who is Judy Garland?" just SHOOTING ME IN THE HEART, not knowing Judy Garland??? a sin, a crime. I'll excuse it since you aren't super familiar with musicals.

2024-08-19 19:48:49 +0000 UTCContext for this song: Act 2 starts with the funeral of Kurt and Ram, so the reason why this song is in a gospel theme is because it's happening in a church during their funeral! (A bit late to give you context afterwards, but here we are)

2024-08-19 19:46:19 +0000 UTCJudy Garland is mentioned because she played as Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz. Being a “friend of Dorothy” is a euphemism for being gay, thus Judy Garland, who passed tragically young, is singing in heaven. :’)

2024-08-19 19:43:12 +0000 UTCFor context (and something an animatic might’ve made more clear) the whole group is actually in a church! The congregation’s also the student body - Veronica and JD are usually in the crowd. The style is VERY gospel, but I love the disco of the end too!

2024-08-19 19:33:14 +0000 UTCYep, it’s set in the 80’s! This musical is based on an 80’s movie.

2024-08-19 19:32:38 +0000 UTCThere is an animatic for this section too, it’s by Angelica Nyneave! It does cut out the last line before the switch to my dead gay son, though, which is a little disappointing given it’s one of the more iconic lines from the show

2024-08-19 19:16:35 +0000 UTCOh hey there actually is about a minute of dialogue between Veronica and JD at the start of act 2, and a short song called Prom or Hell! It’s not hugely important context for my dead gay son, but it is a really nice way to see where Veronica is at mentally at this point in the show, and how her relationship with JD is going after the murders
