Just a bit of clarification: I saw some people mention it on the last video when you said the same thing, but I guess you didn't see the same comment I did: Sam's cancer was actually a LOT more recent. (Like April 2024 being when he had to step back from the THIRD campaign for a bit.) LOTVM follows events from their stream in 2016-2017, but one of those events in a battle around here WAS a full-on (soon reversed) death of Scanlan, which led to some pretty important character moments and changes tot he story in the aftermath of his resurrection, but the show REALLY wants death to feel at least a *little* more permanent than actual (especially high-level) D&D rules make it. So, they went the coma route this time, maybe also to make sure that the Percy situation (altered in its timeline form original campaign to heighten its impact even MORE) doesn't feel like its being made trivial.
