Those from Northern Ireland are British Citizens, but not all would be happy being called British. In broad strokes, the Republican side prefer Irish, and Loyalist consider themselves British, but it's not black and white. Some loyalists are also very proud to be from the island of Ireland and being Northern Irish, and might prefer to be thought of as Irish/Northern Irish first, and British Second.
