I had this episode banked since I saw it released because I had booked to go see Furiosa yesterday and I wanted to hear your thoughts on the film after I had seen it. Watched Furiosa last night and listened to this episode this morning and you absolutely hit the nail on the head that it feels like going for dinner/drinks after a movie and talking about it. It was exactly what I wanted! Thank you both!

It was paced pretty poorly, prone to fits of exposition, and didn't leave me wanting more of that world at that particular time. The questions I had about Fury Road were what kept me invested in Fury Road-- I didn't need a prequel to take that intrigue way. That said, the cast was great and the battles were really fun. I just would have enjoyed a fresh story with new lore to keep the world moving forward rather than backward.

I thought the performances were great and when the pacing got wonky, I was able to overlook it because it’s truly a stunning movie to look at. Agree with most of your takes, I was also asking myself “where’s Anya?” for the first act of the film. Glad I saw it on the big screen though! Between this and Dune 2, big year for epic desert-based action sequences.

2024-05-27 20:46:52 +0000 UTCI wanted to watch it this bank holiday weekend... just no one else did, I believe the trailer looked too CGI impression and I've been hearing that with reviewers. Plus everyone is just happy to wait 3 weeks later to be streamed like the fall guy.
