While up here in the Shire and Highlands you get people who speak entire sentences in the Doric dialect of Scots. Some try to denigrate Scots as just a dialect of English ( they both divert from early middle English c.1300) Scots is distinct enough that English speakers wouldn't be able to understand a conversation. Its always fun getting people to try and read a Scots translation of Harry Potter and then say its English.
