WOW -- that REALLY takes me back a ways! LOL! I remember that particular episode fondly, too. The Lurid variants are fun because I think they add another "dimension" to the art. It's a lot of fun coming up with the dialogue for them, and they're a neat way to give you guys a different kind of variant... but I also love that somehow, they "place" the stand-alone artwork into the Class Canon, somehow. I remember a VERY old Class Comics title where the three heroes -- I think it was Cam, Naked Justice, and Ghost Boy -- got hit with a "Kristen Bjorn ray" and were forced to engage in a lurid 3-way. It was hilarious but also quite erotic.
