ZAHN #3 - Cover Art (2014) - BONUS REWARD!

Last month's HEATWAVE illustration, featuring ISAIAH & CODA, sorta reminded me of my cover art for ZAHN #3 (2014)! I thought it might be fun to take another look at this classic piece, so here it is as a BONUS REWARD!
I have a real weakness for the ominous villain "claiming" the hero trope. I think as concepts go, it's a fairly simple one, but as my Patron, JASON pointed out to me, there's more to it than just drawing the thing. You have to infuse the image with the right essence, which of course, applies to every piece you draw, but here, in this kind of illustration, it's important to show just how much the villain seems to "own" and "covet" the hero.
ZAHN looks loopy as f**k under MAURAK's spell, and the twisted Priest of Ajul's hands are literally ALL OVER the SON OF WINTER!
Truth be told, if I were ever to redo this cover, it would probably look a lot different now... but I still dig the concept and overall idea... plus I'm pretty fond of ZAHN's expression here, all woozy and helpless, primed for the taking. And MAURAK is all-too-happy and eager to take!
