A word from Patrick -- a couple of days off!

I just want to update you and let you know that I am taking a couple of days off this weekend.
I've actually just gotten back from several days of visiting with my parents this past week -- I had pre-scheduled posts to make my absence go unnoticed. I was planning to get back to work seamlessly as soon as I returned home from this visit, but I've hit a bit of a wall and need to rest up a bit before I dive back in.
As many of you know, my mother is suffering from advanced Alzheimer's and our visits take a real emotional toll on me. It's definitely not easy seeing her in that state. Not to mention that getting to my parent's home is 14 hours each way by car, which in itself is pretty exhausting... so yeah... I'm feeling pretty beat.
So this weekend, I will rest and relax, and I'll get back to drawing the rest of the APRIL 2022 rewards for you guys next week. Don't you worry, I'll come back rested and refreshed and I'll serve up more of the hot male art and comics you've come to expect from me!

Thank you so much, my dear Andrew. I promise to be mindful of it every time I find myself needing a little downtime. For now, I feel that drawing and making comics helps me to deal with all the bad stuff in my life... but if I do feel myself getting too burned out, I'll absolutely take the time I need to properly recoup. I appreciate it all so much, and I promise you that I will do the very best I can to keep my head above water in these very difficult times. I think that drawing is quite therapeutic for me and it helps me get through all the bad times in my life, so I don't feel I need to take too much time away, but if things get really heavy, I promise I'll be mindful and take the time I need to rest and recoup. It's such an awful illness and it's so devastating to those who suffer from it AND to their loved ones, as well. I totally get what you mean when you say you're an emotional wreck every single time you leave a visit. I feel the very same way. What's particularly awful for me is that I have to go long periods without seeing my mother since she lives so far away from me. Between visits, I mourn her absence even though she has not yet passed, and a part of me gets used to her being gone. Then every time I do see her, I'm STRUCK by how awful it all is, devastated by the toll her illness has taken on her while I've been unable to visit, and I have to start from scratch all over again, trying to deal with the pain of having her taken from my life. It leaves me unravelling sometimes, honestly. All of this to stay that I deeply appreciate the love you are sending me -- and please allow me to send you and your family all my love as well. I feel your pain and I know how devastating it is. Please take good care of yourself, dear Jen, and again, a million thanks for your kindness and love. XOXOXO ๐๐๐

I try to visit as often as I can and while I try to keep it together for my mom, Iโm an emotional wreck every single time I get in the car to leave.
