Sleep Token || Even In Arcadia Reaction

Sorry this took so long. Over 50gb of footage to upload here!

Comments

Love this band, and your reaction. Look forward to more on Sleep Token from you, and I second the suggestions for you to listen to more Bad Omens, Spiritbox or even Wage War.

Although the songs on TMBTE are more fun to listen to, I think TPWBYT is a better overall album imo. It is very consistent in terms of the overall theme and sound, plus it seems like a more mature album for some reason. I love that album the most

To be honest, with this band, their albums up to this point tell a story and they pretty consistently have callbacks to their previous songs woven into their work. (for the sake of brevity i wont talk about the singles/EPs; one, two, hey ya (Yes they did cover the outkast song, its amazing), jaws or the way that you were. they are all superb and worth checking out though). So in my opinion, its kinda best to start with sundowning, as that is where i would say that the story kinda begins. The best experience you'll get with this band is by starting at the beginning with This Night Does Not Belong To God and ending with Euclid (since you've now done EIA). The band's lore is ever-present in their work, the main jist of which is that they worship the deity of "Sleep" and the songs are often told through the lens of the relationship between Vessel (The singer, please do not try and find the bands real identities they very much wish to remain anonymous [which is explored in caramel btw "Every time they try to shout my real name just to get a rise from me"]) and Sleep. Also just for the sake of clarity: -Vessel - Singer (The main creative driving force behind the band, writes all the music except the drums, from vocals to guitar to bass etc) -II - Drummer (One of the best drummers i have ever come across. Has an amazing interview/drum playthrough on the drumeo yt channel and a smattering of other "Offerings" of other songs on yt. Very much worth checking out, but i would recommend waiting until youve checked out the studio releases first) -III - Basist (Touring musician, doesnt have a major role in songwriting -IV - Guitars and Backing/Scream Vocals (Again, touring musician who doesnt really collaborate on the songwriting) -Espera - Group of female backing vocalists who are amazing live -Gabi Rose - Not really a member of the band but thought worth mentioning as she was the person who did the sax solo at the end of Emergence (Currently in 2 projects "Bilmuri" (a metal-country fusion band where she performs vocals/sax/flute when live - very good) and "Enrose" (A pop/Rock/R&B where she is the frontperson - also very good)

First time Patreon member here just to watch this!! I loved every second of that! It's one thing as a fan to know they make incredible music and write incredible songs but to hear another musician give them the props they deserve was a joy! Your smile when they threw something in you weren't expecting is that smile we've all had! Many may tell you to start at the beginning or at Take Me Back To Eden, but for me This Place Will Be Your Tomb is the most like this one and I just love it so much! But honestly, you can't go wrong with Sleep Token. They are just out of this world good!

You should start at the beginning and listen through the cycles of each era! Old lyrics and sounds will come through In newer songs. 🫢🏼 the journey is just amazing 🀩 WORSHIP

Well thanks, your comments and reactions were great! I think the drummer II uses every part of the kit- bells, stands, rims, and lots of pads. Vessel sings everything including all the layered backing vocals. His range and tone is amazing. Their music is strangely honest and they hit so hard for me, they burn into my brain. Drumeo has great vids of II if you wish, but save them for after you hear the studio stuff. The first 3 LPs are a trilogy, so start with the first one, Sundowning? If you like Brit Rock Yung Blud has a new LP pending and the first release is Hello Heaven Hello. I think he's taken a page from ST, but I think ST will set a new trend in music anyway. I also think they would have been bigger sooner but pandemic stalled them.

This album was such a masterpiece! The only place to start (after you get a grasp of the lore) is at the beginning. Sundowning was the first full album, but they had 2 EP's, One and Two before that. And you can't skip Jaws!

You should also check out Bad Omens' album The Death Of Peace Of Mind, and also check out Spiritbox for some female fronted heavy stuff.

So I'll tell you this, Vessel (vocalist) and II (drummer) are the only recording members in the band. III (bassist) and IV (guitarist) are touring members. Vessel records every instrument beside the drum track (except the saxophone on Emergence, who was Gabi Rose of Bilmuri). It goes to show what a musical genius Vessel is. As far where to start, I'd start with the first full length album Sundowning and go from there. Once you get through the trilogy then you can backtrack to the EPs. There's some lore within the EPs, but not enough to really make a difference IMO.

Love this band and your reaction! The lore plays a big part in their first three records (Sundowning, This Place Will Become Your Tomb, and Take Me Back To Eden). I always recommend listening in the order released (Sundowning, TPWBYT, TMBTE) but TMBTE is their most commercially successful record. If you’re a big fan of the drumming, I would love to see you react to ii (the drummer) on Drumeo, he is one of the best drummers of the generation. So glad you love this band and can’t wait to see more Sleep Token content!
