Superhero life is never a straight path from A to Z, there are always all manner of ambushes and curve balls that will make a seemingly simple situation into a complex mess. Sometimes all it takes is an errant branch to throw everything into a tizzy. At these times, it's important to be able to think on one's feet, as depicted here. Laser enhanced reflexes are also helpful, of course, but at the end of the day it's a clear head that matters.
This was a scene I've wanted to draw for a few years now. I got the idea from, of all things, comedian Bert Kreischer; more specifically from an advertisement for his podcast. Mr. Kreischer, for those of you not familiar, is a large hairy gentleman known for taking of his shirt at inappropriate times. In the promotional image I'm talking about, (which I can no longer find, sadly) he is shirtless and holding a piece of caution tape across his nipples. I looked at that and immediately though, "what if I drew that, but with a pretty girl instead of a hairy fat guy?" From there it was a short jaunt to using the star stripe insignia from Laser Lass's costume as the scrap of cloth in question.
The best part about this pose is that it forces you to stick your chest out in order to make it work, something that Laser Lass didn't consider when she used this strategy to cover herself.
