e-deologies II, 2022

E-deology is an internet slang term used to describe the overuse of prefixes and suffixes to generate complex ideological labels. These hyper-specific categories serve as a gamified form of identity play and niche personal branding in the chaotic landscape of young online politics. 

• Anarcho Collectivist Islamo Minarchism

A triple headed Gadsen snake, representing the unity of individuals, sits atop a field of collectivist red (top) and minarchist blue (below).

• Queer Transhumanist Anarchism

A combination of queer anarchist pink and anarcho-transhumanist blue is emblazoned with a red star to signal a left political alignment.

• Progress Pride Constitutional Monarchy

This flag was first unveiled as the Twitter pfp for the UK Parliament in June of 2020. It was quickly picked up in a story by Breitbart that became a viral sensation.

• Christian Anarchism

The red and black of Anarcho-syndicalism, commonly associated with the CNT during the Spanish Civil War as well as many others today, is overlaid with the christian cross.

• Post-Brexit European Union

Visually effective but terribly inaccurate, the missing star is meant to represent the UK's departure from the EU. Unfortunately for the creator of this flag, the dozen stars do not signify individual nations but instead represent their agreed points of unity. The EU contains 27 countries in total.

• Robo Sexual

Yeah, this is exactly what it sounds like.

• American Monarchism

Thirteen stars represent the American colonies for an alternate history in which the United States gained independence from Britain but appointed its own monarch rather than becoming a republic.

• Anarcho Capitalist Individualist Transhumanism

A combination of capitalist yellow, individualist cyan and transhumanist blue over the customary anarchist black.

E-deologies II is an installation of eight 36 x 60" flags produced from found images gathered in young radical spaces online; Instagram, Reddit, Discord, Telegram and more. This work was recently exhibited in New York with Gallery Kendra Jayne Patrick.
