I really don’t think you all understand what it’s like being a teacher. The twin who’s doing that job could LOSE HER CAREER AND LIVELIHOOD. Just for the other one to take a job on the side.

Lexie

I'm insanely late here but the only REAL problem I have with the first post is the wording, the tone, and the sentiments behind why you landed where you did rather than the YTA/NTA in a vacuum. If I, say, had friends who told me to, essentially, get over it AND have the gall to say I should be doing MORE for her by defending her when she's brought up, I would feel a little insulted and so insanely alone. I can't say there's a good solution but I can definitely say that the math used to get there is incredibly destructive. I think the tipping point for me was the idea that she simply didn't care about her sister because of some inconvenience. This is someone who is scared out of her mind because she constantly has a target on her back that attracts Hitlers who are addicted to the Heckler's Veto. Coming down on someone who is irrational out of a sense of constant stress this hard is unempathetic to a degree that had me squirming by the end. She can't make her sister stop, and she shouldn't ask her to, but she lives an unfathomably bleak life that demands a bit more charity wrt her motivations.

Audio still desynced! Some of the 1s should have been 2s this week. Slightly misogynist take on post 1, but that's the pod baby.

Aerese

really hard listen on the first post. I don't know if you all have an understanding of just how horrible parents can be

Gideon Sochay

Had to turn this one off because of Vlad’s audio going out of sync halfway through. Was really enjoying it up to that point.

This annoyed me the most because historically (lazy GF for sure but I know there's been others) Danny's gone "This doesn't seem that bad but after having a horrible experience with something similar I'm way more apprehensive about it going forward" so I'd hoped he had a little more empathy for her.

Docperian

Yeah, I can’t help but disagree with you guys on the first post. I felt like you guys were way too dismissive of her first experience. Like, Danny basically said “I know this was probably traumatizing but you didn’t need to have a reaction (that you felt bad for immediately after) to the possibility of experiencing that same trauma again.” She isn’t the asshole for not wanting to experience that again. Thankfully, this is a problem with a solution that lets everyone wins by simply making it so both sister’s have a very distinct feature. But regardless, for me the poster isn’t the asshole

Unevener

Really hard listen on the first one. I had to go to the actual post for this one because I needed to read it, and im sorry, the margin for error is so much wider for the teacher than for the model. If the teacher gets what she wants, then the sister is in a job shes already content with. If the model gets what she wants, then not only does this open the door for people to have this exact reaction again, but since I have to take the post at face value, they've already brought this to a town hall, meaning that the school *district* is involved, so if this causes a reconsideration of her position in this school, this also means that her potential for work in that area, with the potential of other districts also turning her down. I looked to the comments and saw that, disappointedly you agree with reddit, but also, if it were her choice, she would not be in a conservative area. She posted that she and her sister moved there out of mutual obligation to help with their sick mother. Teachers already have a tough time and not a lot of say in what the world around them reflects onto them and how their students imprint on their parents. Really hope you guys take a relisten because I genuinely can't stress enough on how much this episode wouldve benefitted from having someone like Leah or Jillian on the pod for this episode, or at least this story specifically.

Quickplay!

Complete miss on the first one, and it sounds like you are making the argument that “well, because you chose to be gay, you should accept that your sister NEEDS to do erotic modeling”

Scott

I completely disagree with first one. Just imagine you are the teacher, boys in your class have sexy picture that looks exactly like you passing around, how you going to feel? What if you just get constant harass by boys in your class? You can't even talk to their parents because the parents don't like you. If you are the board, do you want to see this constant happening to a teacher? Or just let the teacher go? Dying hair isn't an option because it will be even worse for a teacher. Changing hair style can help but also might not help. Moving out not only this isn't an option BUT since this is on internet, same thing will potentially happen. Even if you change profession this can still bite you. The twin is completely in wrong here. Not only she already have a job so she don't need this, but she also know the consequence because it already happened once! The difference of taking it or not is not getting the dream job vs constant harassment of my twin sister!

I see where you're coming from with this and understand OPs side here, it's already difficult enough being a teacher, but being a queer teacher in a conservative state is probably a nightmare. With that being said, what's the sister supposed to do? Never take a modeling job again for as long as her sister is a teacher. That's unfair to the sister. I do think OP is the asshole for how she handled the situation. Instead of trying to have a conversation about it, she called her up and cussed out her sister for taking the job. I get the frustration, but that's an asshole move

Queenautumnween

But here's the thing with this situation. As long as OP is a teacher and at this school, the sister will never be able to take these kind of modeling jobs because of the parents drama. So while I do agree that it sucks that OP is in a shitty situation where she could constantly deal with backlash over her sister's career choice, it's unfair for OP to dictate what kind of jobs her sister can take because of her job. Both are definitely selfish, but I think OP is a little more in the wrong

Queenautumnween

Audio fix pls

Fire Emblem Cleric

You all hard missed on the first one. You focused in on the model sister getting to keep up her job (not even an already commited job but an offer) against the person who's current job and well being is at risk of the decisions of the model sister not yet set in stone. And the change your hair color or other physical trait thing is beyond stupid. So the teacher has to put on an act or make a public statement every time it comes up for the rest of her life or time there in the conservative hellhole just so the other sister can sometimes do underwear modeling? You guys have not appropriately weighed each side of the situation. YOU'RE DOING THE REDDITOR THING OF "They don't owe you anything, just live your fun life :)"

Rick S

Man the Councel's take on post 1 feels so insane and victim blamey. Like yeah it sucks for the sister to have deal with these setbacks and I dont like that the OP immediately cussed her out but she's clearly traumatized. Yeah the crazies will crazy but you don't have to put an easy target on your back especially since its already happened. I can't believe they could figure that out for a shitty kid's name but not this

Plasma Eclipse

hard disagree with the first one.

Andrew M

I really don't like the attitude of "oh you probably already deal with crazy people on a regular basis, so what's one more thing out in the open that those people can and have used to humiliate and degrade you?" that seemed to be consensus in the first one. One would think someone already being in the very precarious position of working with children as an out and married lesbian in a conservative town would be all the more reason to want to minimize the amount of things that town could use to harm her. Call me crazy, but I really don't think marginal potential career growth in a field that isn't actually paying the sister's bills is enough to justify risking OP losing her job. It's a very sticky 50/50 situation to be sure, but I don't like that everyone's approach to harm reduction in this has been to go "trust me bro the outcomes TOTALLY gonna be different this time even though I'm doing the exact same thing as last time." At the very least the sister could offer to do this job under a stage name to reduce the likelihood of OP getting caught in the SEO crossfire.

Dr-doc-phd

Vlad’s audio is all sorts of fucked, very out of sync around 35 mins in and at the start I can only hear him through one headphone

FluffiestLeafeon

The Irish tangent was amazing but it sucked the audio messed up

Phatboisteez

I gotta hard disagree on post 1. To sum up really, I think the main issue is that this is potentially career threatening for the OP vs a small setback on the sister's side job. I think if this was the first time the issue was broached and OP was concerned put of paranoia then yeah this is a bit of a reach to ask her to turn down the job, but importantly there's precedent behind this exact scenario causing issues and honestly I think it's not unfair to expect the sister to know already that this has the potential to have broader consequences. If anything it feels selfish for the sister to try take this job that she knows full well could lose OP's job. Gig jobs and modelling especially suck to turn down but another will come and it's hardly likely to short change her.

Avery Waller

Gotta disagree on the first post with the concel. I would start by saying that I fully support boudior and risqué photography, I've been an amateur photographer for a few years and have done several shoots, but the OP is totally right to be worried or concerned about what could happen to her. I remember in Highschool, we had a teacher who had starred in a few adult films, and when it got out and blew up, she was let go for it, and we were not the first school where it had happened to her. This was well over a decade ago, and while neither sister has done anything wrong, we live in an increasingly hostile and violent US, and the concel themselves have talked at length about how while shit sucks, you should avoid painting as large of a target on yourself as possible. I totally get that the sister should be able to pursue her goals and career, but when you got shitheads like libs if TikTok going out to harass and harm lgbtq+ individuals in education, drawing as little attention to yourself is important if you're stuck in a deeply unsafe area

Hobo Brute

Vlad's audio went to hell about halfway through. I was confused if everyone just loved cutting him off at first.

Brotagonist

Is vlads audio out of sync around 35 minutes in or is everyone just cutting vlad off and then getting awkwardly quiet.

Nick Mogel

Happy new years to the councelmen! (And Vlad)
