TESD Tidbits ep. 20

Comments

this is such a great episode! you can hear the tension in the air! this is not just about music! compelling listening thru and thru. thank you

I don’t know to what extent these comments are read by any of the guys but, I’d be happy to help Git ‘Em validate his FSIQ to settle the matter around the TESD Town table. I suspect Bryan might be surprised by his own score were he to submit to testing, since, based on observation, I would estimate his score at a minimum 1.5sd above the norm. Incidentally, like Bryan, I also suffer from Bipolar/ADHD and am on the same medications, and it was the WAIS, in part, that helped ferret out the ADHD diagnosis via subindex scores. Perhaps we could test everyone as a premise for a TESD episode. Imagine the comedic savagery if Bryan eked out a higher score than Git ‘Em. There are misconceptions discussed regarding IQ (g) as a predictor of specific ability and life outcomes that I may be able to disambiguate. I’m a member of Mensa, Intertel, 2nd VP of the ISPE, Prometheus 2.0 and a few other IQ societies, scoring at the 99.997th percentile. If Git ‘Em’s claim is somewhat accurate, that would place him at the 99th percentile (>146sd15, rarity=1/1000) whereas Mensa are a 98th percentile society (>130sd15, rarity=1/50). This can easily be assessed using the gold standard WAIS, Simon-Binet or Cattell psychometric instruments administered by psychologists and psychiatrists. It’s possible that his 148 is actually a Simon-Binet score which traditionally used a standard deviation (sd) of 16. This converts to 145sd15. Mind you, depending on the purveyor, these tests may be cost prohibitive. Mensa offers proctored testing for ~$90, although they no longer provide the score, only a pass/fail for their 130sd15 admission standard, but it would at least place him at 98th+ percentile. I believe the MAT is available to take via Pearson for ~$60. There are other options as well, should you be interested.

Wait, more people don't jerk off while driving? It can't be just Get em and I.

“We never discuss politics on TESD” does Walt not listen to TESD? It’s talked about all the fucking time. 😂😂

It was really well done in Kingsman as well

Git em def. Jerked off in the store.

Loving the podcast. But I also agree that they should have been songs from movies and not themes from the movie. My suggestions for future show could be 1) best novelty songs 2) guilty pleasures. This would be bands that the average person might not like. Defend bands that not everyone cares for.

Catching up on all the tidbits and now the tournament. Love it! Wish the songs in music was more songs and not themes but its ok...but I do have a suggestion for this game in the future, or at least try it once to test it, but I would love for the competitors to NOT know the other songs and have them debate on the spot. I know maybe some players need that homework but I think it would be more compelling. Keep up the great content!

Its a bad song. I've never understood why it was embraced by so many smokers, there is a line in the song where he says " I fucked up my whole life and i know why, because I got high." Also, one time i saw Afro-Man live, and instead of a band or DJ he just played instrumental tracks off his ipod.

How did “Because I Got High” not make either list?

Is Mike’s mic broken?

Dan Freeman

Wish I would’ve joined sooner.. worth the money

Thanks Walt!

The use of Free Bird in The Devil's Rejects is one of my favorite use of songs in a movie

Matt Carrico

No Pulp Fiction theme song or TMNT. Man, this was the best purveyors yet!
