All New Sunday Jeff Show: Christmas Special

In trying to pinpoint the date, I think I figured out why the store gave my dad a hard time about returning Goofy. Talking Goofy was released in 1986, but The New Adventures of He Man and Slush Head figures came out in 1989. This was probably spring 1990. That Goofy was probably a clearance aisle deal, possibly sold As Is.

We had Child World in the Buffalo area in the 80’s. It was like Toys R Us with a panda instead of a giraffe and castle details on the store exterior. We usually went to Toys R Us as it was closer, but sometimes Child World. My sister had a talking Mickey Mouse like Teddy Ruxbin. One birthday, my dad got me talking Goofy. I hadn’t asked for it and was a bit disappointed because I thought I was too old for it. Anyway, luckily ot didn’t work. It played the tapes but wouldn’t move. My Dad brought it back and I remember he had to argue with customer service and they had no more to exchange it. I got a store credit and way up on a high shelf in the back stock was a Star Wars Rebel Transport. I also got a 2 pack of figures of a new He Man with a cooler costume and cooler haircut that came with like a gill man with a fish bowl on his head like a reverse spacesuit.

There were no Coconuts stores where I grew up, but I bought one of my very first CD’s there in 1993. I was on the 7 hour drive with my mom and little sister to visit cousins like every summer. we made a stop in NJ or PA for lunch. Next door was a Coconuts. I went in and a CD I wanted was on sale, Ugly Kid Joe - America’s Least Wanted. Now I had seen the album cover with the middle finger up but this store had a variant version with Joe’s finger taped down. I didn’t realize it was because some chain stores wouldn’t carry the other cover art. I just thought it was funny. The song lyrics were NOT censored thankfully, or I’d have a CD with just drops in audio every other verse. This Coconuts wasn’t big. It was small and was almost all music, maybe some laser discs.

A bit late watching but I noticed Walt is wearing a Ghost shirt. Glad he's come around and listened to them. I remember 10 or so years ago Bry told him and he was unsure about the singer "changing". Walt and I had a short conversation about the singer and I mentioned it was just a gimmick that it was a "new" singer. I had told him Ghost would be right up his alley with all the supernatural stuff and theatrics.
