Lovecraftian Ambience
Added 2021-03-22 13:56:36 +0000 UTCAs a rule, it is unwise to engage an Old One in direct combat. They exist outside our understanding and can end worlds with a thought. THEREFORE, it's usually best if you explore their realms with no intention of entering into a fight. If you're exploring cultist lairs, or the farthest reaches of the known cosmology, you probably shouldn't need big bombastic exciting music. Just keep your head down and try not to go mad.
That's when you ought to put on "Phth'uub-Phthyn (Ambient)," a track that still has a bunch of weird stuff going on, but which never breaks out into the all-out assault that the original does. There's absolutely a distinct horror element here, so it's perfect for exploring Innsmouth-esque nightmare towns, unfathomable deep-sea resting places, or (of course) any exotic plane of existence filled with tentacle monsters and all-seeing eyes.
As always, looping versions of this and the original are provided below.
