Quiet Crossroads

When I'm DMing, I often like to use small towns as sort of "social dungeons": areas where the players have a clear goal, a variety of potential routes and leads, and in which the NPCs they meet represent potential aids and potential obstacles. I'm currently running a little murder mystery that spans an entire village, and thinking of that adventure as a dungeon really helps to clarify how the city should function in game terms.

Every quaint city has the potential for intrigue. "Fenshade Crossing" is great for those mini-arcs where your players spend most of their time just walking from shop to house to tavern soaking up the local flavor. Much of the time spent in cities is going to be explicitly nonthreatening, and you'll need music that gives the players space to focus while also basking in the quasi-folksy vibes and slow fantasy plucks. Equally at home for slow-moving caravan journeys,  campfires, and mysterious cabins in the woods, "Fenshade Crossing" is best used for slower periods of play in quintessentially low-fantasy settings.

If you want an even sparser version of this track, I have a solo harp version that's perfect for wealthier or more pious settings, available at the Artist Tier and up.
