Neutral Fantasy Music
Added 2021-06-09 13:12:51 +0000 UTCI think most of you know by now that the majority of my music is... not that subtle. When I'm making a pirate ghost song, I want it to sound like a pirate ghost song. This is often great for TTRPGs! With any luck, players won't be paying super close attention to the music (because they're focusing on the game obviously), so blasting them with some very obvious mood- / scenario-setting music works wonders. However, sometimes you need a track that's a bit more "neutral." Something that says "uhhhh this is vaguely fantasy" and not much else.
Well, for that, here's "Lenneton"! This track is my sincere attempt to ape the style of music from games like Skyrim or Pillars of Eternity. It's slow, plodding, and unambiguously fantasy. Slap this on just about any faux-medieval city / village / crossroads / forest / mountain / harbor / inn / galleon / castle / etc and your players will think "yeah, that sounds right." It's one of those tracks that's in a minor key, but it's so slow and meandering that it kind of just sounds... pleasant? This is not a sad tune. Just a wandering, ambient, fantasy soundscape. Minimal on melody, relaxed with regard to rhythm, and unadventurous harmonically.
To be clear: I think this is a good and useful track, but it excels specifically in its subtlety and ambiguity. Definitely a track you can throw on a loop and forget about!
Speaking of: you can get a looping version of this track, as well as a more regal march version of it if you subscribe at the Artist Tier or higher. Also a reminder that I'll be releasing some more minis this month, but only for those subscribed at those tiers. Thanks so much!
