New RA2 Channel Video
Added 2025-04-20 17:56:36 +0000 UTCI went to the mall yesterday afternoon to get some footage for a video I wanted to do for the second channel. The idea was to see if it's still possible to get StreetPass tags on the Nintendo 3DS. The mall on a Saturday afternoon seemed like a good place to try. I wanted to make my attempt during peak foot traffic hours. The end results were no StreetPass tags on my 3DS and way more mall footage than I would have needed. I didn't want to waste the footage, so I put it together into a video with all the raw mall audio left in. Thankfully, there's nothing in the background audio that's triggering YouTube copyright bots. There's no music added or commentary (besides the intro). It's just 10 minutes of a mall on a Saturday afternoon. Superstition Springs Center is an interesting mall. The center of the mall still gets busy. The center is where the food court, JCPenney, and most of the typical mall stores are located. There is one wing that very much looks and feels like a dead mall, however. You can have two different mall experiences there. I think the footage in this video does a good job at showing that.
I will have a new video out on the Retail Archaeology channel soon. It's about 75% complete. It covers a national retailer going out of business. I also have an episode of Thrifting Time coming soon. After each thrift store, there's a segment covering a cool landmark near the store. I have a mall video in the works as well. I'm still in the footage gathering phase for that one.
