Greetings adventurers!

When most think of bioluminescence, they think of magic far off places where blooming flowers burst with glowing color and odd fruits house shimmering cores inviting people to sample their nectar. Few think of one of the more common creatures out there. The simple firefly. I just think that’s a shame as there’s much wonder to be found even a few steps from your doorframe if you know how to look for it. My rantings aside, long ago I had stumbled across a glowing fruit in my travels to the feywild. I took a cutting of it to do more research on later. What I found was something extraordinary. Let me show you.

Our patrons get early access to all of these items as well as additional formats that are easily usable in both physical and online play for D&D and Pathfinder 2E. Additionally they get high-res art exports, easy to use text exports, behind the scenes updates, and a lot more.

If that strikes your fancy, consider becoming a Patron

Design notes from Matthew:

We had started this design process from a patron suggestion as many of our designs have in the past. It was merely a bioluminescent suit that started us down this path and it’s from there we ran with the theming to make something truly interesting. I had always wanted to make a potion dispensing armor, but hadn’t found the right theming around it until that suggestion. From there it was just really about making sure that we got the numbers right as the theme somewhat wrote itself.

Something I made sure to do in 5E and PF2E was take a step down from the rarity of the item to what level of potion it provides. That means that since this is Very Rare in 5E and a level 12 in PF2E, I stepped down to a rare level potion in 5E and a level 6 healing potion in PF2E. I didn’t want this chestpiece to fully supplant the healing potions that they’re meant to spend their gold on, but more as a last minute desperation item if potions are running low and they need to push on just a bit further. Always these could be great for healing up between battles if a player wants to hold on to their more permanent potions.

For both versions of this, I wanted to make sure it was possible to regenerate no pods on a given day. Again this was an important balancing point to make sure that these weren’t used to completely supplant consumable potions. Sometimes fitting your design into the system’s already identified breakpoints of useful items means you have to nerf the piece you’re working on a bit more since it offers something the potions don’t. Always consider what your system expects.

I’m actually quite happy with how this one turned out. There’s something fascinating about a regenerating magical potion that can be plucked from the very armor you wear. I like to think the aesthetic will be interesting for our more forest minded characters out there regardless of what class they may be.

We highly encourage you to join our Discord server where you’ll get access to exclusive channels that have sneak peeks, behind the scenes chatter, and more.
