Right, now I’m going to begin work on finalising the variant version of volume 1 to get it ready for publication. Curious Archive has been messaging me about the second video on Humanity Lost and I’m beyond excited, it’s on schedule for the end of the month. I’m trying to line up the release of this variant cover with the release of the video. Bear with me, I’ll be back with more pages for issue 8 very soon.

Sorry, I’ve only just seen this! I get where you’re coming from. The Illuminati have become overused and is unfortunately muddied in with many conspiracy theories, but the reason I used them here was because the Illuminati was a real thing in history. It was a secret society that was created in the Age of Enlightenment on the 1st of May 1776, and its founding members were some of the richest men on Earth at the time who possessed tremendous influence. The name Illuminati is literally derived from the plural of Latin illuminatus, meaning 'enlightened’, and the men behind the Illuminati were key players behind the scenes in the events that occurred during this period. It’s important to remember that what I’m writing here is a fictitious history for a fictitious universe, but I have based some things in fact to help the reader suspend their disbelief and to ground my otherwise extremely out-there story. I think you’ve misread what I was trying to get across here. I was saying that the philosophical foundations of a united Earth find their origins in the 1700s, not that the Illuminati were pulling the strings all along. I think you might have filled in a few blanks there that have been tinted by conjecture by others surrounding theories relating to the Illuminati. The focus of this text is not on Nazi Germany or their persecution of minority groups in Germany at that time either, hence why it’s only a single sentence in this text. The focus is more on the ground that was laid by the aftermath of the Second World War and how it led to the transition of power from the British Empire to the new global hegemon, the United States of America, and how this led to the formation of the Western bloc. This isn’t about imperialism or neo-colonialism; this is about globalism. In this fictional history of Humanity Lost, both the Collective East and the Collective West are false oppositions to one another, working in tandem towards a global government. Romanticism wasn’t a factor in this process; romanticism harps on the particularities of a group against the push of universalism; it is parochial in its very nature. Romanticism is the collective reminiscence of an entire people/tribe/nation on a mythologized past that helps them to develop roots that tie members of that society together through traditions and cultural bonds, which in turn gives them a sense of belonging. The direction of the United Earth and thus globalism is antithetical to this; it seeks to tear down boundaries and eliminate differences; it is a force of anti-tradition, of “progress”. Romanticism is actually what led to the creation of the nation-states that arose in reaction to the United Earth government. I’ll be creating an updated map of the Earth prior to the Human-Conglomerate war and the activation of the All-Mother soon for the back pages of Volume 2, so stay tuned for that!

Both groups imperialist tendencies and romanticization of the past made them functionally identical, with their only real difference being their location, so in 2121 both powers unified."

I think in this case the use of the term is meant to convey the idea that, while certainly real, the label itself can be utilized as a form of suppression to silence or discredit those who would oppose an authoritarian regime. Similar to 1984's 𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩𝘵𝘤𝘳𝘪𝘮𝘦 or Hunger Games' 𝘴𝘶𝘱𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘰𝘯 except that the term used already exists for specific actions, but in this fictional world has been manipulated. I could be wrong, but I do not think the purpose of using it here as a rhetorical device was meant in any way to convey the idea that it doesn't exist or shouldn't be taken seriously.

It's too conspiracy flavoured for me; it's not that I can't see consolidation and tyrannical empire building by soft power & homogenisation- since that's been a thing forever, it's why Coca-Cola is everywhere - but I've experienced actual hate speech in my childhood. Seeing the idea that the social effort to stop people openly telling me I deserve to die or suffer because of who I am is some kind of conspiracy theory level social engineering project for world dominion isn't fun.
