A penny for your thoughts?
Added 2021-04-30 15:00:42 +0000 UTCSo basically, I have been thinking this past week about my YouTub channel and the things I would like to do with it and focus on. The main conclusion I think I came to is that I no longer want to record Let’s Plays.
As a streamer, cosplayer, YouTuber, there are many things that I love to do and spend my time on. Don’t get me wrong I still love playing through story games but I think that would be better served being done on my Twitch channel vs having its on series on YouTube. The time I allocate to record let’s play videos just doesn’t = the return of the videos. And I don’t really want to have to commit to super long series where in the end, the amount of people watching just diminishes.
What I thought about doing instead is just playing the story games I want on stream, and then doing a stream highlights video on it VS doing an entire playthrough. I will upload the vod as I do to my VOD YT channel if anyone wants to see the full playthrough but my main channel will be more about other things.
What are these other things you ask? Movie Commentaries, and also some other video ideas I have wanted to do but do have much time for. I think this is a much better use of my time and have much more interest for me. There are so many movies I wanna watch and react to but didn’t have the time, and I think now with me focusing more on it, we will be able to get more out, more often.
Additionally, I will continue to upload Twitch highlights as well which doesn’t need me to record separately and is just from my Twitch which is helpful!!
As for the current series going on, so many of them are at their final hours. Such as Batman, and Red Dead Redemption. So I will just finish that on YT and tie up my loose ends. Persona is definitely one that will take longer to finish but I still plan on finishing that one on YT as well.
Once those are all wrapped up then we will start the shift on the channel I think.
I just wanted to know your thoughts? What do you guys think about this change? How do you feel about the change? Etc.

I understand \hear what your saying Krysta. I'll keep supporting you regardless! Thank you for your response and honesty!
2021-05-11 04:22:16 +0000 UTCThis isn’t really about satisfying people, my decision to do this. I love let’s plays, and I love movie reactions, however the time I put into let’s plays, the return is just not worth my focus any longer. I don’t want to dedicate myself to series and people just aren’t interested and not supporting. Not that people don’t watch, but it’s just unfortunately not enough. I do this for a living and I have to be wise for my career and mental health on what I focus on. I’m not dropping gaming entirely, I’m simply no longer recording separate let’s plays. I still will play through games in my Twitch and if I find that good enough, I will put it on my main channel, and if not there my VOD channel. I wish more people were into the let’s plays as much as you were. I would have so much more motivation to upkeep with it. But it’s more discouraging than fun to create let’s plays. :/
2021-05-08 00:41:59 +0000 UTCI'm not a fan of these movie reaction\commentary video's tbh. I subscribed to your channel & patreon cause i love watching you play video games. Not to react to movies. I had a feeling this was gonna happen cause you haven't been uploading much gaming content lately. Why not make another channel dedicated to movie reactions & keep the current one for gaming? That would satisfy your reaction fans & gaming fans would it not? Its your channel, choice Krysta. But i would be very disappointed if you stopped doing lets plays on the channel.

The Answer
2021-04-30 17:20:16 +0000 UTCYeah I totally get what you are saying! There are definitely games that Translate better a recorded vs streamed for sure. And I’m open to this being a trial run/break to see how it goes.
2021-04-30 17:07:01 +0000 UTCYeah so I’ve seen that too! I know Marz does it, I feel personally, this may not be best for me because of how distracted I get when streaming with chat. I like to interact with chat a lot and Idk if that will ruin the immersion for people or not. But I’m totally open to that.
2021-04-30 17:04:50 +0000 UTCHonestly I'm kinda torn. While there are some story games that might be good for streaming, among them the Yakuza series, Persona 5 Strikers and Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, I can't see the more time intensive games like Persona 4 Golden making for good streaming despite how fun they are to play and to watch an edited playthrough. Of course it is your channel and you have to do what makes you happy (that's the content that we enjoy best), but perhaps instead of ending Let's Plays outright maybe you could maybe just take a break? Of course during said break you can do as you suggested: Movie commentaries and cosplays on your main channel, with Twitch Highlights of streamed games on your VOD channel. Of course if it works well, even for the longer games, then you could extend that break indefinitely. However I see it being a problem with games like the aforementioned P4 Golden, as Twitch comments are harder to block and ignore, and the trolls there love to spoil twists like that. At least on YouTube you can have comments blocked and redirected to a forum thread on Steam or something where your mods can sort out the spoilers from the helpful comments before presenting them to you for your perusal. Well it'll take you a while yet to finish with Persona 5 and whatnot, so if you can use that time to consider my break idea I would appreciate it. P.S. Those super-long games I understand are often even more of a problem on Twitch, with the viewership dropping dramatically during repetitive grinding sessions, whereas those sessions can be edited down or removed entirely from Let's Plays, keeping the videos shorter and focused on the entertaining content that your viewers tune in for. Please keep that in mind when you ultimately make your decision.

2021-04-30 16:53:43 +0000 UTCI just need to get into twitch more xD i mean this makes perfect sense (:
2021-04-30 16:49:09 +0000 UTCI think it's fine. I've seen other streamers just post recording of their twitch stream on YouTube instead of doing a whole separate playthrough so maybe you could even just chop a twitch stream down to an hour or 2 and that would be 2 YouTube vids right there. Not sure how much editing goes into doing it that way but its an option.
