Update.

Sorry that I don’t have anything to show just yet, but I have been getting a lot of important stuff done. While working on this Kolaxan Empire and Baron Janudua character profile, I found myself pulling at a thread. There is a map of the Orion-Cygnus arm (the place all events in Humanity Lost take place) in this section on the Kolaxan Empire that shows the borders of the various powers as they existed before the arrival of the Imperium. I got to calculating the distance between certain points on the map, and this led in turn to me figuring out how long it would take to travel between said points. Long story short, I’m now working on something that people have been asking for for a long time: an official Humanity Lost timeline. It stretches from before the creation of the United Earth all the way up to the Battle of Chiron that we saw in the events of Volume 1, Issue 4. When working on this timeline, it forced me to nail down the dates for the final world war, the Human-Conglomerate war, the All-Mother’s technological singularity, and her takeover of mankind. I also needed to figure out exactly how the All-Mother created the first wormhole in order to harvest the ELAN energy she would need to create her pocket universe. This was all quite the rabbit hole and led to me researching anti-matter and the exact amount required to open a micro wormhole and how long it would take to harvest all that anti-matter so that it could fit within the timeline. To cut to the chase, I’m going to be creating three extra infographic sections before we can get to the Kolaxan content. So get ready for the full HL timeline, an infographic titled “outpacing light” about warp technology, how humanity colonised the stars before the All-Mother and how the FLUX is used to reach a destination even quicker than Warp speeds can, and lastly an infographic on the All-Mothers takeover of humanity, the last human survivors on earth and the events leading up to the creation of the Imperium.

This is cool as hell, I'm super excited for your upcoming work! Keep it up and big thanks!

Makes more sense honestly!

Scrap that, that was a miscalculation on my part, the year would be 2721 AD when Losté woke up, that’s 224 years after the Singularity (the All-Mothers takeover of mankind and rapid evolution). For some reason I was counting up 400 years from the Singularity rather than from when the UE Belfast launched, I guess I was tired 😅 that would place the current year in the book as of issue 9 at 2746 AD, not 3073 AD.

Thanks so much mate, I really appreciate it, it won’t be much longer, but creating a timeline is surprisingly hard 😅

Callum Diggle

Fantastic work Callum! Take your time! I'm always excited about your woeldbuilding stuff.

Thanks mate, it’s much appreciated! Aha not quite, they were but one of the many factions fighting the UE in the Final World War, an event that takes place before and during the Human-Conglomerate war.

Callum Diggle

Excited for the timeline! I dig the amount of background research - makes the speculative universes feel more real! Also, did I get a whiff of Doggerland as last humans?😀

Gabu

Oh god that sounds so awesome, I'm all for the macabre personally but I also understand why you may want to avoid leaning into the horror aspect, also didn't realise to was that far into the future! Pretty vrazy

The timeline covers the events stretching from 2073-3073 quite broadly, I just wouldn’t be able to fit it on the page otherwise. The current year in Humanity Lost issue 9 is 3098 because of the 25 year time jump when the Tandraxian Star-Engine was traveling from Chiron to the Nomad Star. Hell yeah dude, this will be a broad strokes timeline showing major events relevant to the story itself, but I plan on doing an in-depth future Earth history timeline for the end of Volume 3 which will lead directly into the Humanity Lost prequel story. The prequel will be set during the events leading up to the Final World War and the Human-Conglomerate war and it might even stretch into the period after the All-Mothers activation (I’ve not decided yet) where we follow a ragtag group of survivors trying desperately to stay alive as the All-Mother converts all of the Earths biomass into the newly emerging Imperium, that part would be like a combination of the war of the worlds and I have no mouth but I must scream, it’d be a horror story basically. Though I don’t know if I want to get quite that macabre mind you, I might just stick to the two wars and have it tie in with Deicide’s flashback in issue 6 where he discovers that mech suit on the moon.

Callum Diggle

Oh hell yes, how much time will this cover? If I recall correctly isn't humanity lost in it's current state around 500 ish years into the future? Can't wait to get to learn more about the historical pretext of this world!
