Excerpt from my Red Hot Chili Peppers songwriting notes

If anyone from my IT department at work monitors my laptop, they may question my sanity.
P.S. I have a degree in theatre, which provided many wise nuggets but not much in the way of salary, so my first "real" job was in HR for a very large multinational corporation.

100% do not create anything on a work computer. I guarantee there is something in your contract that states anything you create on it is owned by the company; it is a protective clause for them and liability insurance policies insist on it.

If anyone from your work's IT department monitored your laptop I think they would first question their own sanity.

Ask Mr. Rubik or the gentleman that invented Tetris about ownership, it can be really sad. As Nek said, be careful.

I would strongly advise not to do anything creative on your work laptop. Aside from the obvious ways that can cause you trouble, your employer could potentially claim ownership of the copyright as work product.
I recognize that it's highly likely you're already aware of this and even more likely, you're just making a joke. But on the off chance you weren't aware, I just thought I'd share this small nugget of wisdom that is the sole value I've derived from my communications degree. 😼

Speaking as a career IT guy, I'd say you've got a 50/50 shot of "This guy ain't right" vs "This guy is cool".

It's like if Beck wrote for Anthony Kiedis. I used to close my eyes, open them, and just point at whatever I saw next over and over, and say what it was to the beat of "Where It's At" as a joke back in the day, and it worked. "Coffee table, couch, clock on the wall and a Christmas tree... 2 TURNTABLES AND A MICROPHONE!"
