How To: Make a Mid-Tempo Drop from SCRATCH

Okay I've heard ya. Today we are walking through how to make a mid-tempo drop from bare bones. This can be applied to other genres as well, this is definitely not only applicable to mid tempo (its just what I was making at the time!).

In this long form video, we go through the process of what sounds to use and how to use them, from the early "oh my god what am i even doing here" to the filling out and beefing up stages where things really start to come together.

I'm hoping this is a really useful video for you all!

Let me know what you think in the comments and share it with your friends! the more the merrier.

SUPREEMO

this video stopped working for me about 5 mins in. No problems with my internet or anything. Happen to anyone else?

Michael Wagman

They are sliiihgtly different for me. same concept but i usually have everything going a little less hot into the master and i add a limiter on so i can push that 2-4 db or so. that makes it feel a little more glued together cos im not trying to make it AS crushed and crunchy as the heavier stuff.

BLANKE

Ahh im not sure anymore i got them years ago, i thought it was splice!

BLANKE

Is the mastering channel any different to a future bass drop or the same concept?

Michael Buchmiller

just ableton saturators on each band of a multiband compressor basically!

BLANKE

Thank you so much for covering this!!! Getting to see how you make Midtempo is something I have always been so curious about. Can't wait to apply what taught in this video and start making some Midtempo bangers 😊💙
