I'm not sure there's enough intentionality behind me coming across as a bad person in this video. In my mind it's too breed contempt towards me, but even though it's an interesting idea to play with it needs to be done for a better reason than just to do it.

ah yeah that's fair. it does require some focus, although it's a lot more passive. i feel kind of recharged when i laugh at stuff, like it puts me in a great mood if i'm worried about something, so i think it's still valuable even if it's not exactly relaxation

There's no need to kill all the ecelebs cause once society crashes and the internet goes down the anprims can take whatever celebrity face they want.

it really depends I believe. Everything needs a balance, most people won't just "consume" the internet for 30min or 1h and then get on with their lifes: they will spend most (if not all) of their "free time" that they could actually use for many other things, on the internet. And btw, the fact that consuming content on the internet is "recharging your batteries" is a myth - if someone really wants to rest, they will do more relaxing activities - looking at content kinda requires focus too so you're just making yourself more tired, really. It's just that you don't need to be as hardly focused as when you're making maths for sure, but if you're watching good content it means you're hooked up so you're brain's still going like woooooooooo.

Jreg you keep confirming my iceberg

plus you're just not gonna be productive if you spend all of your waking hours working on something that requires focus. that's what leads to horrible burnout

hell virus without a face

yeah to add to this - you gotta have time to relax and not have to think too hard. like, as someone who's interested in academia myself it's like, most of the time i'm working through math textbooks but sometimes i just wanna kick back and laugh lol

Mmm, I never bought the "the amount of time you spend idly consuming content is time you could have spent in productive places" argument. I don't know how re-allocatable energy really is. Content consumption requires no energy at all, whereas going back to the stack of academic papers I have to read requires a lot of energy to focus.
