James Somerton IS dead actually, in the sense that it matter, the entity we knew as James Somerton isn't coming back and even if it did, we probably wouldn't care because of the deception. In my opinion, what Somerton did is in bad taste, but nothing more. In is place, I would have done the same. I don't believe there is any need whatsoever to touch items that exist in the zeitgeist. Once you put it out there, it's open season. Wear other artist's face as a mask for all I care as long as your don't make it worse than the original (and even then). The reality is that the works he plagiarized were dead too. He gave them a face and a sound track and even some gravitas. Sure something felt off, the "I" and "we" from story to story was the not the same "I". It was not really Somerton's voice speaking even if it was coming out of his mouth. But in the end, if he hadn't said it, I wouldn't have heard it. And for that hbombguy and IP morality police can get massively bent and I will fly the black flag.

This preface is to explain that, I don't care about what James Somerton did and I fully encourage anyone to walk in his footsteps because plagiarism is more expression than staying silent. And he was visually transformative of the works he produced, but the Disney PSYOPS are obviously trying to raise the bar on the minimum required amount of transformativeness for avoiding ostracisation. Wow, great job being a servant of intellectual property Hbomberguy, HOW FUCKING BREADTUBE OF YOU. Now I understand your objection to being associated with it, when it didn't suit you anymore. Also my dear Jreg, I am appalled you didn't release this ostensibly out of cowardice, or the gaucheness or piling up on the controversy of the day. The cynical part of me, tells me you didn't release it because it's quality spiciness for the patreon exclusivity. And to that I just want to say, as a child of the 90s (still child of course) who pirated everything, that I liked patreon a lot better when it was about supporting artists rather than incentivizing them to take their art behind closed doors. Jreg, look at your patreon page on a free tier account, it at least lacks onboarding. Everything is locked down. Even your convert goers can't even ask directions. I tried the discord, it was a desert. In the show, you seemed to wonder, "I can't make a show in a park because I couldn't monetize it by controlling access" you seem blind to the answer that patreon is supposed to provide, we pay first then you do it. This is how art should happen, trustworthy artists propose concepts, patrons funds it, -everyone- enjoys. I find artificially scarcifying a freely and infinitely reproducible good is the greatest crime that capitalism has perpetrated on humanity and for that alone it must die.
