Hi all! It's time to reveal the cover of our next book: Contra and Other Konami Classics! It's still a work in progress, obviously, with colors soon to come, but now you can see Rusty Shackles' ode to the many heroes of Konami's alien blasting series, plus see those penguins parody more of Konami's other properties. Other games featured include all of the Mystical Ninja/Goemon series, Rocket Knight/Sparkster, most of Konami's run-and-guns, and a significant chunk of Konami's FC/NES output.
Anyway, it's time to start asking you guys for testimonials for this book! Last year I introduced a tier that anyone donating $15/month or above can have a picture and a short blurb (less than 100 words) about something related to the book. So if you fall into that category, please write something! The cover story of the book is Contra, but it can be focused on anything Konami - favorite games, fond memories, whatever (though not something that's too disparaging, I don't want to make them cranky again!) Check out a sample of a page from the Guide to Shoot-Em-Ups from last year for the kind of blurbs everyone wrote:

If you're interested in contributing but aren't currently at the $15 level, you can upgrade it for just this month and then downgrade immediately (or before month end), and you can still get your story in. (This is because Patreon will charge you for the difference when you change your pledge level.)
Anyway, for anyone participating, please send your story to kurt@hardcoregaming101.net, with the picture you want to use (square-shaped) and the topic title "Konami Book Testimonial". The due date is June 4, so please get them submitted before then!
I hope to get this completed by Too Many Games in late June, but if not then, then July. This is also a good time to talk about upcoming HG101 projects, including The Guide to Retro Indie Games (accidentally revealed a few months ago, a sample was provided to Patreon donors a little while back), the Complete Guide to the Famicom Disk System, NES Cult Classics, and Wrestling with Pixels. We'll be doing testimonial sections for these too, except the FDS volume, because I'm not really sure how many people have experience with the platform and could write about it (unless you guys want it...let me know!)
