So, here's a preview of another upcoming project we haven't really talked about much (since we're still finishing a few other things): one of the upcoming digests will feature Star Fox and F-Zero, along with some other lesser known rail shooters and the usual variety of topics. The F-Zero article will be about the same as on the site, though the Star Fox one will be originally written for this. As with many of our covers, this is provided by Rusty Shackles.
However, we're also planning two digests for the remainder of the year, the other being a retro horror-themed volume featuring Ghosts n Goblins, Splatterhouse, and several others. That one absolutely needs to be out in time for Halloween, but this Nintendo one doesn't quite have that time restriction. So, ultimately that one MAY come first depending on how the chips fall (mostly, in how easily I can get the Star Fox article together) or else that one might come out before this one.
As for other updates: I'm finishing up the main work on the NES Cult Classic book, and a preview of that should be forthcoming very very soon for anyone pledging at the $5+ tier. (The only thing left is finishing up a review of Blaster Master Zero, and figuring out if we want to give any space to some of the B-tier Famicom platformers like Time Zone and Pizza Pop.) This one should be ready for June, and definitely in time for Too Many Games in Pennsylvania, which I'll be attending to sell books (and other stuff from my closet), and (hopefully) be giving a panel at too.
The actual text for the Japanese Video Game Obscurities book is 99% done, just need to finish the last game I'd planned (a text-heavy adventure game called Yu-No), then it's just a matter of getting together all of the images I need. The publisher informed me that it probably won't be ready for publication until summer/fall of 2019 (backers get them before the rest of the public), so it's still quite a bit in the distance, though I'm going to see about compiling the stuff I've already published on the site into a small eBook for you all.
