Monolith is one of my favorite PC developers too. Blood, No One Lives Forever 1 & 2, F.E.A.R. They have made some truly excellent games.

Tolkien was my introduction into fantasy and shaped my tastes very early on. While I enjoyed the core gameplay loop well enough, I hated the overall tone of the game, and the story is basically hot garbage. I think the ranking is pretty fair. The game is definitely less than the sum of its parts and probably would have been a better experience without the license.
