Sega Console Classics Vol. 1 covers the 8/16-bit Sonic games, as well as the original Phantasy Star and Shining Force series, along with a whole bunch of Master System games!

The physical versions will be released on Amazon later this week, at which point I'll begin sending out copies for $20 Patreon supporters!

This was in the works for quite some time. This was originally supposed to come out last year around this time, but ended up getting delayed for various reasons I'll probably go into at a later point in time. (If you take a look at some of the other Sega-related books that were announced last year, you can probably guess why it was pushed back.) As a result, I had to prioritize the Arcade Cult Classics book, which was only maybe 1/3 done by that point, so the shuffling ended in things taking much longer than I'd hoped.

As for what's next, there's probably won't be any HG101 books until mid next year at earliest due to a few other projects I've been working on. I'd also originally wanted to have a Falcom themed book ready for late this year, to celebrate the release of the upcoming Ys X, but that's nowhere near completion. As I've mentioning in the past, a few other topics that are floating around include another Taito book and a Capcom/SNK arcade themed book. There's also more Sega stuff too - this book doesn't even really scratch the surface of the Genesis. I'm also slowly working on a big volume dedicated to 90s PC games, as well as 70s/80s retro anime. Please look forward to news on those some day!

In the meantime, as paying Patrons of the site, please let me know the kind of coverage (and books) you'd like to see from the site!

I would love a dungeon cralwer or JRPG collection, I fondly recall your teams' previous articles on those.
