Blue White Humans (Pioneer)

Mono White has to adapt to beat what's going on. Mono White had one of the worst win rates at the Pro Tour. It got crushed and the rise of decks like creativity have put the deck in a very awkward position. One of the better ways to stop those decks is to splash blue for just spell pierce. It doesn't affect your mana that much and gives you a lot more play in the combo heavy matchups.

Honestly I was going to update mono white from the pt but I feel that the deck needs to be very different in the coming weeks to really succeed.

I think if your going to play White right now the blue splash is needed. Your other slots are flex ones outside of the wedding announcement. I like sword for all the grindy matchups and the obvious ones but I dont think you have to have it. The other slots are up to you on what removal you want. I will say ossification is a bit of a liability in this mana base but is obviously very strong when it works.

Here is a quick breakdown of spell Pierce in the matchups it’s good in.

Creativity basically folds to spell pierce and pressure. So I love this switch in that matchup specifically.

Against Lotus field Spell pierce gives you a good play to break up there draws and help turn that matchup even more in our favor.

Spell pierce is also quite good against both control and the five color piles decks. While fringe often both make up a fair percent of a local store metagame.

This build is pretty new but I think it is probably pretty good for upcoming events. The white primer has a whole section on the flex cards. As for the blue flex cards I actually don't think there are many you want so I just loaded up on spell pierce. Its important to remember that just because we have a new color doesn't mean we should dilute our deck with blue cards that might not get the job done.

It wont always be right ot be on the blue splash but right now given the metagame and results I really like the position of this build of the deck.
