They were originally meant to be used as a drawing aid. I was not confident in my drawing ability. I drew what the model told me to. But that was a mistake. The important thing was how it looked. You have to see it with your own eyes. I stopped using the 3D model and trained hard on my drawing. I went the opposite way of other creators. Still making excuses for being self-directed. I don't want to end up being a bad painter. Make it my goal in life. I want to see the world that I was never able to see. I want to see the same world as them.
