[Salvos] 216. Interlude - Edithe's Evolution Part 2 (Removed for KU)

I dont really like edithe. She's fighting for the same cause but it's even bigger then before. A weapon to save the world and she's crying over it.

Hmm I just wanted Edithe to level 1 more level. So she could get her class. I like it that we seeing Edithe pos Lich fight shows how much stupid is the leveling speed Salvos have. 5 years old and at combined levels of close to 150. That is a lot, while Edithe in 2 months of war against other humans lower level than her with maybe some here and there of similar level to her managed to level up more or 4 times? if she finished the Lich fight at level 95 which I don't remember if it was the case.

But they are getting targeted because of the sword. Imagine you are an adventurer who just wanted to be in a guild with morals and now you are getting into a war because your guild protects a hidden item. Maybe more guilds will target you maybe even demons will target you. This somewhat already turned in a war of annihilation and as far as I understood this world thats not so normal for adventurers. In the end they arent soldiers.

Wonderful! Love seeing the developments with Edithe and Daniel!

Often? The politicians nowadays either lie or keep their motivations and plans hidden and often veiled in such vague phrases like "our values." What's more they often words like justice, freedom, family and other words as weapons while distorting their meaning. But that's beside the point here. The decision whether to reveal the truth or not is difficult. How much of the truth to reveal is also vague. They could reveal the purpose but not say anything about the sword. We know too little about the core members of the company outside of it's leadership to make a judgment on whether its the company will split or if a leader will emerge to unite them under the newish banner. They have the whole dream, justice, and all that going for them. If someone can make them believe fact they've been lied to is trivial because they have been doing good even if the true goal was different albeit arguably as noble then they may be able to continue. If the majority decides that too many comrades died for a lie and leave, qell that could doom them. I guess the question is will Hadrian and/or Edithe prove capable of re-igniting the dream atop the ashes of the lie?

Could they not compromise and tell the rank and file that there is something "else" they are protecting and fighting for? Something like "it's too dangerous to have knowledge spread, but if you don't trust us to fight for a cause you don't fully understand this is your chance to break faith with our blessing, but know on our honor that this cause is just".....etc. It's possible to join an organization with secrets you don't immediately have access to willingly. It just seems naive to me to share everything with everyone.

The company is based on a set of morality that they all agreed to uphold and defend. This morality would have them protect the sword. Talking about the sword is dangerous. The sword can not be traded for peace. There is absolutely no reason to tell anyone including Edith that the sword existed nor does its existence change the situation. They are being attacked it doesn't matter why.

god, they raised many flags in the last couple paragraphs.

She doesn't have a 2. Class. She got her diamond rank for defeating the Lich not for reaching her diamond-advancement. However she has +25stats because of her title and she is lvl99 so she is as strong as a diamond.

Hadrian is absolutely correct: his father's rationale makes sense. Its the objectively correct decision. But Edithe's point is that making other people die without knowing why is wrong. They're the Valiant Dreamers: fighting for what's right is their thing. However, they chose that conviction, and they joined the Valiant Dreamers at least partially because of that conviction. If their conviction was misplaced, induced by a lie, they have a right to know that. Its their fundamental human rights at stake, after all.

Hmm. I don't see letting this truth get out as a good idea. Yeah, it sucks that everyone's been lied to, but a truth that will tear the company apart and make them targets? Some secrets are better off kept. Both governments and businesses keep certain things a secret for the good of their people. Often they'll err too much on the side of keeping too many secrets. But there are also times when secrets are better off kept. For me this looks like one of those times.

I still don't think Edithe's choice is neither smart or has any moral high ground, it bring no benefits, correct no wrongs and has the potential to create a worst situation

DANTE

Can't wait for part 3 when she will finally get level 100 (or so I presume).

Nice chapter. I expected her 2nd class to be revealed here, but this is good too
