Unizine - Work Horses

This piece would have been late 2020, I believe, and it was during a period where I was very, very much doubting my skill with any sort of linework. When I was still in school, one of my easiest methods of creating when my confidence was dismal was one-line drawings. You start, and you don't pick your pen up until you stop. I tried to lean into that idea here. I let shapes and scribbles fill in the suggestion of concepts rather than trying to over explain them. It was the only way this piece ever felt complete. I had tried (and failed) three or four times to paint it. In the end, I'm glad I chose to challenge myself in leaving it to lines. I don't know if it would have the same level of emptiness or dour air if it'd ever been brought to a rendered state.
