Reposting all of these is teaching me that I got done far more in 2020 than I initially thought I had. And that I painted very little in 2021.
Dragon Age Inquisition is what really blew up the independent artist tarot scene, and you can still see its influence as we approach a decade post-release. This was one of the first painting pieces where I feel like I learned to pull from such an obscene amount of varying references to figure out colors, tone, shape. I was incredibly proud of this piece upon its completion, and I still am. I love the bounced color of the knives up into the dips of the scar, and the wetness to both her lips and eyes.
I find the minor arcana fascinating, maybe more so than their major counterparts. The Ten of Swords is about betrayal, inevitability, victimization, and despair, but it can be a card about survival, healing, and fruition in spite as well.
