Flashfics: Vampires, Blossoms, and Spirits

In which the nature of vampires and spirits is discussed, and a buxom, bouncy vampiric plantgirl praises a boy on his cleverness in not looking into her eyes.

A bit of a lore post-heavy flashfic update today, but these have been a long time in coming—so long I forgot I'd already finished one of them! Thanks to the lovelies who helped edit this while I was distracted, heehee!

I've been really, really distracted lately. Big changes in my life, but not anything bad for once! Just distracting. I'm working on the final chapter of Serpent's Charm, but I honestly have tons to work on. More is on the way.

These were fun to work on. The first flashfic was requested as a deeper look at vampires—in the Cloistered Lands vampires are basically any, ah, "thirsty" undead, and so they run the gamut from sucklers to nibblers to none of the above!

The second flashfic was requested as another look at the lovely Liliana, who has been included in a previous story by name—here, she ensnares another titslave boytoy, though honestly, the flashfic was running so long, I tragically had to leave off on a cliffhanger. :P

The third flashfic was another lore post, a request for more information about the "spirits" witches draw from. Are they undead? Are they fey? Yes and no and yes! You also get a little information here about witches and Dust, the stuff which makes up the world. Honestly, it's really nice to get that nailed down.

I've had the idea of, "the Dead are lost souls, the Demons are souleaters, and the Fey are soulless" for years now, and it often gets expressed, but I never really explain what it means. It's inspired in part by The Little Mermaid—the story, I mean, not the movie. In The Little Mermaid, the core conflict is that Ariel doesn't really deserve the prince because she hasn't got a mortal soul, and the "happy" ending, if I remember rightly, is that she dies but gets a soul and goes to Heaven because of the strength of her love.e

The idea of beings that have no souls but want them really stuck with me. I think it works for fey, who, in my stories...
