Newsletter: Wicked Pluto in Aquarius

Originally, this was gonna be a rant about liberals and conservatives. But then I remembered this newsletter is for my Patrons and not my high school diary my Mom would read without permission. This is my first year doing the thing completely on my own, and while it's been a stressful time collectively and a wild time personally, it's also been the most gratifying year of my life, creatively. And it would have not happened without all of you.

I fucking love this community. You are a wonderful, hilarious, kind, smart coven of very diverse witches. I love that opening the Discord app is like peeking into a unicorn's asshole and getting shot in the brain with rainbows and soul cleansing conversation. We don't always agree on everything, but we have respectful and challenging discussions that make us all grow. Y'all know I've been talking about Pluto in Aquarius all year. That the planet is going through transformation and rebirth, and the thing getting us through this will be community.

Pluto just left Capricorn to enter Aquarius on November 19. It will be there for 20 years and this hasn't happened since the late 1700s. That's right, the American Revolution, the French Revolution, and the beginning of the Industrial Revolution all happened around that time. This time changed how societies functioned and the French literally toppled the monarchy. So very metal 🤘

While Capricorn is about boring old tradition, Aquarius doesn't follow norms. It encourages us to break free from convention and embrace the future. From death to rebirth, destruction to regeneration, Aquarius is a sign of revolution, innovation, and the collective. Our ideologies are going through radical transformation.

Think about all the social and economic issues we've been dealing with for the last few decades. From technology to systems of power. From gender roles to relationship models. We are seeing patriarchal systems trying to ban TikTok in North America, in their last few attempts to cling to power and control, unable to see that the old world is dying. We are living through the AI renaissance, and as with every technology, we should be learning these tools to fight the 1% until they're nothing but orca snacks.

Amongst the propaganda mainstream media drown us with to keep us tired and divided, I've been witnessing many parts of the collective mobilize and organize to reclaim its power. On an individual level, I've been working on seeing which behavioral patterns don't actually help me or my community. Do I want to yell at liberals online trying to look morally superior? Of course, I'd love to tell them they haven't a single clue what's happening at the border everyday under a democratic administration. Or that rich dumbasses like Elon literally exist because of both parties. Or that they survived 4 years of Trump and thousands of Palestinian families didn't survive under Biden. But what's that really gonna do amongst the sea of fake activists constantly yelling on social media? I've realized the focus should be on real, human conversations, and our direct, local communities.

On Thanksgiving, I had a very polite conversation with a sweet Trump voter who clearly lives in the Fox News echo chamber. I tried to explain how the man is not an outsider, how cable news rots your brain, and both parties are guilty of why the working class is struggling. He said he enjoyed talking to me and, as Frank says, I keep planting seeds. If you stop doomscrolling in liberal echo chambers, you'll notice that Sarah McBride is the first out transgender person elected to Congress, and there's a reason the Dems lost Michigan, but people voted for Rashida Tlaib again.

Even though the media establishment would say otherwise, the people want change. The thing is change is never comfortable. So this new era we're all coming into may not be easy, but it's certainly necessary. And the good kind of change will only happen if we, ourselves, are willing to grow and evolve from our older selves and our comfortable behaviors and traditions. Join Elphaba and save the animals, instead of pulling a Glinda cause of her cushy gig. Be water, like Bruce Lee used to say. Go outside, ground yourself, listen to some good fucking music, be in community, and most especially, let the sunshine in ✨

You may have noticed some shows are happening on Tuesdays and some on Mondays. Well, kids, we're changing the show back to Tuesdays again, except for the consumerist holidays. To be totally transparent, the reason is BABYRATU. Most of the movie events in Los Angeles tend to happen on Mondays. So there's no show on Mixcloud this week because I'm seeing my boy, Nosferatu, tonight ⚰️

To make up for this, come hang out on YouTube tomorrow, Tuesday, as we go through the Best Music of 2024. There's also a listening party happening this Wednesday.
