The last couple of months have been really rough for the channel, and YouTube independent media in general. While there is a general falloff after an election, YouTube's algorithm has clearly had a huge influence moving people away from independent media and into the arms of corporate-backed channels like MSNBC, Fox News, and CNN.
This isn't just speculation, YouTube has admitted this themselves, saying they choose to platform "authoritative" news sources - meaning corporate-aligned media. If it wasn't for Patreon I literally would not be able to continue doing this work. I've wanted to hire a 2nd person to help with the channel but this recent setback just does not make it possible.
YouTube are demonetizing videos left and right, claiming my videos contain "extreme violence" or "dead bodies" when they don't - a recent example is the video I just uploaded, "White Veteran Harasses Man For Walking While Black". Here is YouTube's claim on my video, and they give us no human with which to interact with and make our case:
Just a completely absurd claim, and I have no way to dispute it. It's incredibly frustrating to spend hours on a video only to have this happen.
It would be great if I could work these 12 hour days and not have to worry about income, but unfortunately that's not the system we live in. So I just want you to know that your continued support is appreciated and the only reason I'm still going.
