My Birthday live recap/what it means to "live the dream"

Hi Derek, another awesome podcast about the last weeks. (I basically listen to the old ones backwards the next days - this stuff is simply fascinating) I take every bet, that coming to the state where you are must be immense hard work, In Germany we have a term for that: "Klinken putzen" - "polish doorknobs". It means making countless contacts, where many in the end lead nowhere. Until getting results a lot doorknobs have to be polished. Last year (or is it already two - time flies like hell) when Idol Underworld started, your idea was ambitious and still is. At the beginning there was just Necronomidol and many contacts to form. Then the first groups came. Somehow Hanako was on my little radar that time and was so thrilled that you made a deal. and now... look how big it has become. It even survived Covid. If you can say anything about that Virus: It killed even more startups than people. I am very relieved you can send nearly everywhere again and more frequent orders come back. I have an idea for dstributing the music of the idols digitally, but am not sure how possible it is regarding to rights for the songs, splitting payments after somewone buyed an album etc. But in the end it would be a cool thing, not being dependant on postway, having infinite albums, the only thing is loths of theoretical and consulting stuff. The birthday Show was the most awesome thing i´ve seen. And it was heartwarming that it made many groups familiar with new fans. I was fanboyed as well. the first thing i did was an Idol Underworld order for some groups and a bunch of digital Albums from Okinawa Saya. Researching like crazy. It was just a little disappointing, that X-Teen didn´t take the opportunity streaming that people, who weren´t familiar could have seen them... and people like me who know them and were so happy they would appear too. But all other appearing groups made me forget the disappointment very soon. Especially the crazy guy who jumped two times between two act rocked. Of course we know you well enough, to recognize your part. xD In every case the show was an awesome promo for you. I hope it was recognizable on IU sales afterwards. Speaking for myself, i have inspiration for some shopping the next months - i have to get their music, the upcoming photobooks. In my case it was great promotion. It´s awesome how a little family built around what you and Ricky did the last years. I remember noticing that Darkwave Idol Group (Necroma of course) in September, fascinated how a group like this could happen in the flooded idol industry, leading to seeing you in the making ofs, learning what you do, realizing how you basically are the two guys who made indie idol goodness possible to the world. Making new friends. This is so awesome. Love to hear from you the next weeks. Sven

Thank you for this audiopost! I’m supposed to sleep because I have a long work day in a few hours but I just had to listen to this. The birthday live was absolutely amazing and I still feel so warm from how much I loved it. Once covid is gone I can’t wait to see what we can achieve!! I look forward to scheduling our cheki session, as we’ve talked about before, I’ve been wanting to take cheki with you for a long time! Next time we’re doing it in real life and together! Oh and just a small idea I had: is it possible for IU to sell homework cheki from the groups that were at the live? It could help with the costs from the show and gives the cheki experience for overseas fans too!! Once again, thank you so much for the birthday live, I will treasure this moment forever. I will send my questions for the Q&A tomorrow!
