Villain School Pitch

I've had an idea for an LCG for the past couple of months (ever since I was on a train with a couple friends of mine heading up to NYC to celebrate their birthday and I was complaining about a TTRPG that uses cards in a way that I felt could be a lot more compelling, and I started pitching how I would go about implementing / representing those mechanics) and while I don't really have time to actually put together a whole LCG to test this out, I wanted to at the very least record my ideas for posterity, so that if I ever did have the impulse to actually finish the damn thing, I could. Here it is! This is potentially interesting to people who want to be tormented by a really cool-sounding card game they may never get to play, or people who wonder what skeletons and pitches end up looking like when being drafted up.

If you read this and it inspires you to make your own project that maybe borrows an element or two from this, cool! Go nuts! Please don't use this as a blueprint to make your own thing.

Very cool that this bridges both the "deckbuilder in a box" boardgame style of play and the take it around and dddduel usual tcg, super cute lore too! If theres ways to continue upping or reworking or changing the pro villian finished project then it gets the best of both worlds and still keeps the their growing up and changing flavor

Awesome read You and your friends are the queer kind of punk we need to see more of. Just some of that good ol "I'm gonna have fun and you and your rules can't stop me" kind of spirit that keeps the soul burning bright.

Thank you so much! I take a lot of pride in it — I often (backwards-ly) name things before I start working on them. I never posted about Magpie's Cube beyond what's in this Medium article, although it's due for a refresh: https://possumcreek.medium.com/the-magpies-cube-54eac20f36fd

You always have the best names for things. Sometimes simple and direct, other times the perfect combination of syllables to evoke that feeling. I admire your designs but that skill is one I have always been jealous of. Hopefully this document grows in the future. Card games have always been one of my most cherished forms of play. Also, did you ever post on here about your sticker cube for mtg? I think I saw that on twitter way back when.
