Selfportraits

How often do you listen to music, podcasts, put series or movies on in the background? Do you do it by mood, or by necessity, or do you spend your time in silence?

I am so used to turning on music in the morning when I prepare breakfast, when I clean the apartment, when I work, I am used to turning on headphones when I travel in transport or walk around the city. Even when I drink tea in the morning and write a diary, I turn on some meditative music, although this is the same moment when I want to be in maximum contact with myself, to hear myself. Yesterday I felt a reluctance to music. I don't know what caused it, but I just felt my internal resistance to turning it on. I was alone at home, I wrote a diary, had breakfast, cleaned the apartment, worked and all this in complete silence. Even in the evening, after dinner with a friend, I returned home without headphones in my ears (and I note that it takes 40 minutes to walk). I even instinctively took out AirPods from my bag several times, but every time I felt a wild reluctance.

I remembered that period of my life when I didn't have headphones in principle. And not because I didn't have money to buy new ones 🤣, but I just liked hearing the city, hearing nature, hearing what people were talking about. And I did not understand those people who constantly cover their ears with some kind of background music. Music is already around us, you don't even need to turn it on and pay for a subscription)

I felt calm yesterday, I felt more in the moment, I felt more involved in the world, more in touch with the world around me and a part of it. From now on, my headphones and speaker will gather dust in my house )

It's different when you live with someone else, because then you have a daily negotiation over what to listen to, when and at what volume. But I'm someone who listens to music almost all the time when I'm at home. If I'm chilling out on the couch just reading, I put on a CD called 'Haka Holiday,' filled with beautifully comforting acoustic Christmas songs from Hawai'ian musicians. I rarely do headphones - when I'm walking, I'm watching, listening and absorbing the scents of the environment around me. Earworms, however, snippets of songs, some favorites, others maybe not so much, often come to mind. Nice to be able to recall them whenever I want. While I swim, I often think of songs that have a number in their title or lyrics to help me keep a count on how many laps I've done. A life without music is impossible.

Anyway, really nice shots. Interesting lighting, there are some interesting details in some photos, especially the veins and some marks on the skin.

I love music, lastly I'm not listening too much music when doing other things, I prefer to be concentrated on it. And I'm more playing music than listening to music. The only moment when I listen to music "passively" is driving my car, usually I listen to Spotify
