A few days ago, I was visiting Nastya in Warsaw with Lolita. We drank tea, hugged, cuddled her fluffy (and deaf) cats, laughed, and talked about life, illness, war, photography, fears, and confessions — everything we love. And I felt just how much I not only admire Nastya as an artist, but also how deeply I’m inspired by her as a human being. I realized I wanted to share a bit about her. Not as a woman with a long list of achievements (though she has plenty!), but as someone who moves me, teaches me tenderness and strength. And so I decided to start a series of recommendation posts about the women I love. I begin with Nastya.

We met sometime in 2021 or 2022 — I can’t remember exactly. Nastya ended up in Kyiv almost by accident, even though she didn’t really like the city at the time. She was looking for a model and wrote to me. I only knew her from Instagram and imagined a fierce, fast, loud woman. But when we met, I saw something familiar in her. She really was like a spring — full of energy, life, and movement, so easy to be around. And she shoots incredibly fast and a lot. I still don’t know how she does it. It’s some kind of superpower. (That was when we did the sheep series!)

For a while after that, we only crossed paths occasionally — exchanged messages, met in Dnipro, took photos, had tea. But after the full-scale invasion began, we grew closer. And for the first time, I saw not only Nastya’s strength but also her vulnerability. That softness she usually keeps hidden behind armor. And I wanted to hug her, support her, and tell others who she really is.

Yes, Nastya is a powerful artistic force. She’s been shooting for over 15 years, published in Vogue and Playboy, her photos have reached millions of people, and her work has been exhibited worldwide — even in Times Square. But behind all those words is a real person. With a soft heart. With a body that aches every day from a mysterious illness no doctor has been able to diagnose. With a huge love for cats, for the color purple, for the mountains, for life itself.

She’s been volunteering for decades, helping animals and people, giving her time, energy, money — even when she barely has any of her own. Nastya is one of those rare people who gives not from excess, but from what little she has. She loves not through words, but through action. And you can feel that in everything she does — in her photographs, in her writing, in the way she shows up for others.

Oh — and also. Nastya recently cut her long hair and became an absolutely unreal babe 😍. That’s my official review of the new haircut.

I rarely recommend people or things. But when I do — it’s from the heart. And I recommend Nastya with all of mine. There will be beauty here. There will be strength. There will be tenderness. And so, so much life.
