Angry Princess Jian

Remember how Jian was originally going to spend the rest of her life at a nunnery for her inappropriate relationship, before the Emperor changed his mind? Unfortunately for Jian's hair, word of that change didn't get out in time to save it from being shaven off. It's a good thing hair grows back, but the princess was still devastated. At least it's growing back incredibly healthy.

The circumstances surrounding what was happening to Jian were kept a secret by order of the Emperor, but rumors spread regardless; her hair was cut, her freedom taken and her mother lost favor. She couldn't even receive visitors without the Emperor's permission and he visited her brother, Dao, less. Not to mention there was all this secrecy and the Emperor himself got involved, when one would assume a family matter like this would fall within the Empress' purview. The Empress is competent at managing the palaces, so this princess must have done something very bad. It's the only thing that makes sense!
The Emperor never touched her title, though. But this didn't say much, considering some truly heinous dragons have retained their status to keep up appearances.

Jian was still a Princess of the Second Rank, as she had been all her life. Some of her own servants needed a reminder of that, particularly one maid who decided she could lace her answers to the princess with irony. Now, Jian is a refined lady and ladies don't get angry of course. But servants disrespecting their masters was a dire situation. If such behavior went unpunished, the palaces would surely descend into chaos! Naturally, Jian had to put her in her place!
Jian planned the punishment months in advance. She ordered a fancy dress — which she was definitely overcharged for, being cut off from any potential backers in the harem — and ordered some gifts for her servants. With these things prepared, she awaited the day of the reckoning.

While the expensive fabric of the dress was getting embroidered with huge peonies, one of the Noble Consort's maids saw it at the embroidery department when running an errand and inquired about it. She relayed the information to her mistress, who wasn't too happy to hear the disgraced princess was receiving a dress so much more elaborate than the one that was being made for herself! So she met with the Empress to express her 'concern' for Jian.
Not long after this meeting, the Empress received the Emperor's permission to visit Jian. When the Empress asked her what her reason for ordering such an extravagant dress was, Jian claimed she was simply trying to feel beautiful again, despite losing her hair. She also claimed she was worried her father would be saddened if he heard his daughter was depressed.
The kindly Empress was satisfied with Jian's excuse and read between the lines. She reassured the princess, promising her that she would be treated well from now on.
With the Empress on Jian's side, the House of Internal Affairs' inventory issues were suddenly resolved. Curious! But Jian still had some other servants to deal with.

On the day of the reckoning, Jian wore the unusually bold dress she had ordered. For the sharp-tongued maid, Jian had a pair of fancy earrings made with painfully thick earwires. Knowing that the consequences for refusing a gift from higher ranking dragoness were severe, the maid forced the earrings in. Jian presented gifts to all of her servants, some of them serving as warnings while others being genuinely nice, depending on how the servants had been treating her.
Full of confidence, Jian wrote a letter to the Dragon Lord that night.

Dragon Lord Ember relished in the detailed account of her revenge.
