Silverstream spends the week of the foreign exchange at the changeling hive. While the changelings are a bit worried that they may not have enough culture to show off, Silverstream is enamored of just about everything. She has a lot of fun participating in the various activities King Thorax had previously introduced to the hive, especially craft time. Nothing could have prepared her for all of the amazingly cool bugs she's finding, though.

Silverstream has been fascinated by strange critters ever since she did her school project on cockatrices. The hive's nooks and crannies are chock-full of strange critters and the changelings begin showing the excited hippogriff all sorts of creepy-crawlies once they catch on to her interest. Among these bugs is a passion flower mantis she takes to school.

Smolder and Ocellus are both familiar with the passion flower mantis. This insect is found everywhere passion flowers are found, in the warmer climates like those of the hive, the Dragon Lands, and the jungle Ahuizotl calls home.
